What are your thoughts about how to monetize this? I really need ideas on this because as much as I want to help others develop WP themes better, I’d also want to earn something out of it :) @GJThemes has a very good point regarding exposure though, that would definitely help a lot.

Monetize could happen from different things from paid support, to simply making available any themes you have, or offering separate modules to the framework that would be considered as “premium” like for WordPress, there are some plugins that are commercial even though they are on the wp.org site. Same goes for Joomla, an open source project and very popular with lots of free extensions, but some are commercially priced. You could even keep a portfolio that links to any items you have at TF here. Setup affiliate accounts with select products or serivces…

With the concept of designing free themes that I’m contemplating, the option I have to consider is offering paid support or relying on upsell to the “pro” version of the theme. Either way, you have several options to monetize your framework.

The publicity would be huge though once word gets out through the social networks like Twitter, google+, facebook, etc.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a 100% secure website…even the gov and military get hacked. Just comes down to common sense of keeping backups but only put information in your account and other websites that is “needed”. For passwords, I use 12 to 18 alphanumeric characters with a mix of symbols as well…But I know that it’s also the responsibility of websites that we go to, to ensure they follow a good level of security, but as I said, there is no such thing as a 100% secure website. One thing too…for themeforest and money earned, try not to keep your funds in it. Unfortunately Envato only pays out once each month, but you have to also time it right or you will be waiting up to a month and a half to get paid out. Would be nice to have a bi-weekly payout schedule where you don’t have to wait until the following month. This would help lessen the possibility of hacked accounts taking your funds.

So these last 2 really unique and my not? I can’t beleive you were hired to work as reviewers.
Probably not a good idea to go negative on a reviewer, but I can understand your frustration. Note that I know some elite authors have had the same kind of form letter rejections as you and many others, but have to remember this is themeforest’s site and their rules and terms and sure there are some advantages of some over others, but eventually if you keep at it, you will get the elite status as well. Ivor (the staff) is willing to look into your theme which is a nice thing to do really.

In general, getting a theme rejected is a very upsetting feeling, especially if a person spends a long time working on it to get rejected in as little as minutes. One thing I’ve done that many don’t do or have is that if you get a theme rejected, have your own website that you can sell it from there instead. I’ve done that and all is not lost…just means you get 100% of the sale from your own site :)

Moral of the story here is to keep at it, make themes, and simply try to keep improving on each one but stay professional and patient because for everyone, there will be some rejections and keep things in good standing because at some point, you may get one of these BIG selling themes!

You should… actually the “free model” of business proves to work very well. I mean look at open source and how it has become so popular. You could definitely do well with a free framework because it would also dramatically increase your exposure once word gets out. I’ve never seen your framework in action but I would be interested in seeing it if you do go free.

Like for me, I plan on moving more towards free themes and templates because there is a much better advantage on many levels, even cross marketing with others.

That’s the best way…start with WP as itself, explore it, play with it, and then once you feel comfortable enough, then venture outward to the popular frameworks. You could always try the Warp I mention, but you may also want to try out Justin’s Hybrid as he has been around for a long time and he definitely knows his WordPress code. Realize that learning WP and a framework won’t happen over night so take it slow, one step at a time, then as I said, venture into the more sophisticated levels of WP development for themes. You could start with a theme but please note that many authors here at Themeforest do awesome designs but they also do their own coding methods, some good some bad. Because of this, I still say start with the core of WP and go through the wordpress site and it’s docs (codex) and play with the TwentyTwelve theme first. The closer you keep to the authentic WP code, the better.

Hey guys, I just got my latest item soft disabled for having a non-unique name.

How dare they do that to a fellow Joomla template developer! :(

lol…anyway
If you read closely i didn’t bitched about that. I was angry by the fact that a new unwritten rule came out and you dont get warned at all, so i’m warning others. If anyone thinks that’s a joke it’s his business.

lol…. sorry (it’s my lack of sleep lately), however, I re-read everything and now understand. Anyway, thanks for the update.

I’m the creator of Hybrid Core (the framework from Theme Hybrid)...
Hey it’s Justin! :) Not sure about others but I found a steep learning curve for your Hybrid, but I will admit you’ve been around with the Hybrid for a long time and doing quite well with it. I would say you are a celebrity with your framework, not to mention your name has become a sort of brand name as well. I would guess if I ever tried yours again, I will need extra coffee this time around :)

lol…anyway, I find that coming up names is getting harder each time, just like trying to find the right domain name (especially with domain name squatters). Generally when I come up with a name, I do a look in Google for theme and templates with that name or similar and then try to find something that is not used. Pretty soon we will be naming themes with bar codes

That has got to be the total truth of it all….visually! Except of me, I only use a Windows workstation laptop. One day I will get into the Macbook pro once I sell a few more themes and templates, lol.
