I’m still a little green on the design side of things (been a programmer/developer for years) and I would always just sketch some ideas out on paper, then HTML /CSS them, I would like to start doing more design in photoshop.

I’ve done a little bit of graphic work in photoshop before, but I’m a little confused on how to start building websites templates in photoshop.

how many PSDs do you usually make? Do you have one for the general apperance, or several, one for each page? Are there any good tutorials on getting started using PS to sketch out designs?

If your looking on a good starting point for your projects in the future, you should check out the “WP Core Theme” : http://www.chromand.com/archives/blank-wordpress-theme-wp-core-10

I’m confused on what exactly the HTML template category is supposed to be HTML /CSS sites only, or can you use javascript/PHP? And these are supposed to be sites that stand on their own, or are they supposed to be used along with some other CMS ?

I am working on a theme for this site, and I want the user to be able to have a set of options for the theme, for example being able to choose between several style sheets. how do I add options to the theme menu, and how to I get them on other pages of the template, like header.php and index.php?
