Hello people,

My PSD theme was rejected because it did not meet the quality standards. I would really appreciate feedback from you guys and get your perspective.

Here are 4 shots of the design: http://kingbanners.com/tforest/fwh.html

I’m open to all feedback, advice, suggestions, criticism, etc.

Go to themeforest and type in the following terms:

- Beauty - Cars - Fitness - Restaurant - Medical

All of those simple searches, karma shows up number one, it’s a bit ridicuous in my opinion. I don’t even see any of those words in the description of the theme, which makes me believe searches are favored to themes that have high purchase rates.

How about having the ability to removing themes from your search results. I do no want that Karma theme, I would never buy it as well, so why can I not exclude that for all of my search results moving forward? Doesn’t make sense. Also doesn’t make sense how the search results are populated, if there is no keywords in the description, how can that theme show up all the time?
There are a list of keywords on the right column of every items page. When you look at the list of keywords used for the karma theme, all of the ones you listed are there. Factor in the high number of sales, it would explain why its showing up as the first result.
Haha, well that explains it! Shouldn’t the tags be a bit more true to the actual nature of the theme? When I look at the theme, I do not see it being a car theme, I could possibly see it being a theme for fitness and medical though. Either way, it comes up for a majority of searches I do on the site, i would love to be able to just click a button that says “exclude this from your future search results”

Some of them use popular search terms just so they appear in more search results even though their item is unrelated. I guess the only way to fix that problem is if envato allowed authors to only use related keywords.

You can see you preview, but it is possible for it to be similar to your own item.

If i am honest with you GR has enough flyers, so any that get added now should be something special.

accudata, I agree the search is quite poor but a lot of it has to do with poor descriptions of items by authors and keyword being added to items that are not relevant. i think you will find it hard to find another site that is as cheap as GR.

We don’t want to buy cheap products, we want to buy good products, no matter what the price is… but it’s hard to find good products when search only populates products that have the most amount of sales. For example, 90% of our searches on themeforest result in the theme “karma” being in the search results…. we spend more time searching then purchasing.

Also, do not understand why there is no shopping cart. Don’t know how many times I see an item and then forget to bookmark, would be nice to “add to cart” and then come back and purchase at a later date. Simple user functionality is why we will probably end up leaving this place. I just don’t get it, i see these promo banners talking about how authors making millions of dollars… invest some of that money into the marketplace so us buyers are not left in the dark.

I agree, the search needs to be improved.

It would be helpful if you gave a few examples of the search terms you’re having issues with, hopefully it’ll give envato a better understanding of your experience. This is exactly the type of information they need if they’re going to consider making improvements.

One of your buyers requested a refund from paypal so it was subtracted from your earnings.

I would assume all 5 reversals are from 1 buyer.

Well, to be fair, none of us know what your flyer looks like so we cant give our opinion.

edit: Just searched on google for your flyer, the layouts are exactly identical but its possible that it is a coincidence.

Blend a gokart or gokart related image in the background. istockphoto should have a good variety of images.

I dont think front page exposure has any large impact on sales, hardly any of my sales came during the time it was on the front page. Even looking at the current items on the front page, most of them have 0 sales.
