I see your design too much “inspired” by the Rythm theme here. So, at least its lacking your own idea behind your design, which is important.

Hi there. Well, of course, since the designer behind this theme is the same one who designed Rythm as well :) You can see that he has released screenshots of both themes under his dribbble profile.

However it is quite a different design approach in my opinion. I do not agree with your comment about lacking originality.

Thanks :)

Emmm… I am here to verify that I designed both of them :)

I think that the low sales in the PSD Category are to “blame” for that most people think like o yeah there will be a HTML version or WP version soon so they dont really need the PSD .

That’s a very good point indeed.

Shouldn’t a platform like wordpress be as simple and efficient as possible? Shouldn’t it be just usable? Shouldn’t the themes be focused on aesthetics, good code and proper functionality?

Come on people! Themes with 10.000 options? 500 fonts? Where is design? where is inspiration… I think we have turned it into a customizable skeleton without personality. I find myself when designing a WP theme to be restricted by the idea that is should be as much customizable as possible. And this is driving me crazy.

This kills inspiration. This is killing design. And just a few authors cannot change this. There must be a collective effort to return the WP themes to simplicity.

Let’s focus on typography, on color palettes, on UX. No, I do not want the user to be able to change the font that I have so carefully selected and tested, into Georgia, when Georgia is not an appropriate font for the design of the theme. I do not want him to change the background color into red and the text color into yellow.

There should be a golden balance out there. I am not saying that all themes should come with 0 options, but at least let’s make it logical. Let’s keep the inspiration, let’s keep the personality. Most of the themes out there are copying each other. This sucks. And it leads nowhere.

If we care about wordpress at all, and not only about a long list of customization options, let’s talk about this.

My 2 cents. john

Hi I provide very minimal documentation to the .psd themes. Basically a 2-3 paragraph text with generic information, and a small description of every page file.

I always list the resources also.

let me know if you have further questions. John

Hi all

I would just like to express some thoughts of mine concerning the pricing of the .psd category. I am an active author in this category, having released 7 themes as .psd.

Personally I think that $10 for a complete website design is quite low, leaving a $5 earning of each sale. Is there a future and a sales potential in this category? If not, why?

I think that the aesthetic part of a website is the number one sale factor. No matter how well a website is coded, it will just won’t work if the design sucks. So why is this category so underestimated? A well-structured, pixel perfect design, ready for html conversion should be appreciated more than $10. And as far as I know the standards for having a theme approved as a psd are quite high. So we already have a quality standard established.

I accept that the pricing model follows some supply/demand rules, but I would appreciate sharing some thoughts on this.

Why people do not buy .psd themes? Why developers do not buy .psd themes? If you are a developer, let me know your thoughts on this.

My 2 cents. John

Hi everyone

I was wondering if I could purchase a product mockup design from graphic river and use it in the preview image of my upcoming theme. Of course I will not use it as it is, but I do not know if there are any copyright issues. Does it work with a regular license?

Thanks John

I’ll be brutally honest and say theres virtually no market and the design doesn’t bring anything new to the table.

thanks for the kind words mate :notfunny:
