Thanks :) . I’ll appreciate any app or software recommendation ;)

Madlep already mentioned Textual and homebrew, but I’d like to add Sublime Text and Little Snitch to the list :) Oh and Transmit for FTP!

Furthemore, there are a couple little apps that greatly enhance the overal experience: Flux, Caffeine, Grabbox and Menumeters. I’ll just put GPGTools on this list as well, since I’m not sure where to put it ;)

All I have to remember is the cipher, rather than the actual passwords. I’m not just a breathtakingly pretty face!

Hah! :chuckle:

I’ve received a doggy email to my unique adobe account email address

It’s quite likely that people will be targetting email addresses from that list with spam / (spear) phishing.

I’m lucky! “Your search has been performed, but there were no results! That means your data was not hacked, congratulations ;-)”

Note that only 38 million of the 150 million records have been released so far. You might still be up for a suprise.

I’m using Stanford’s PWDHash. It’s a browser plugin that generates a new password for every site based on the combination of your master password and the website URL. This way, you’ll have unique (client-sided!) passwords without having to store a database anywhere.

You’re not storing your master password anywhere either – you can store the unique passwords in your browser’s password memory if you want to, and if one of these uniques leaks, your master password (and all other passwords) is still perfectly safe (assuming you choose a strong master password). You can just as easily use multiple master passwords if you want to, but then you’ll have to remember them ;)

There is one downside, namely that you’ll have to have access to the browser plugin to generate these unique passwords. However, you can also use the Javascript form on their website for this, or one of the smartphone apps out there that implements the same hash function. :)

EDIT: I only now realised you’re not assuming your own computer is safe.. In that case, PWDHash is quite difficult to use. But I guess when your own computer gets infected on such a level that attackers can read your browser’s stored passwords, anything will have been keylogged..

EDIT: Disregard most of what I said here. I cut out the wrongsies now :)

Conclusion is: if you’re re-using the password anywhere, well.., you shouldn’t. This is absolutely key. Find a way to manage your passwords such that you do not need to repeat them. Have a look at PWDHash (which is a neat algorithmic solution) or 1Password / LastPass / KeePass (password management tools). If all else fails, even prepending a (few) different letter(s) each time already helps.

Remove Transmit ? and try again ?? or Mavericks… Hoping you suggest Transmit lol

They were suggesting Transmit, although I’m doubtful it will do anything if you simply remove the .app and leave preferences in tact. I mean, it’s highly unlikely the .app was changed, but it might have left preferences that don’t properly work with 10.9. I usually do not advocate these kind of tools (as they are not necessary for regular removing of unused software), but for this specific problem it might actually be benefitial to use AppCleaner
