I was looking at the video section http://studio.envato.com/explore/video-animation and have a question:
Those first 3 jobs are essentially the same, just different price points for different animation lengths. As Studio expands, it’s pretty obvious this will lead to pages and pages of variations of the same job. So why aren’t they being merged into one?
That other site I’m sure you’re familiar with has a nice approach… a base price for a job, with “extras” to that job in case the client wants them. One job page, multiple options.Another example: Many authors on videohive have templates for 100 images. A template like this on Studio shouldn’t have the same price for customizing 10 images or 100. So if the author wanted to add price-points for different number of images customized, that would mean multiple jobs, instead of one job with extras inside. Add to that more authors, more templates… and soon Studio will be a mess to browse.
Yeah, we’ve discussed this internally, and how it could get messy when the categories are a lot larger. It’s something we’re considering at the moment – perhaps we’ll implement a different way to sort, perhaps add-ons to a base service or maybe something entirely different. Not ready to announce anything yet, but it’s totally on our radar!
Hey guys – it’s safest to decide on your prices independently – it’s fine to do your market research on what’s out there – publicly available but please don’t have conversations about pricing on Microlancer between yourselves on the forums, we’ll have to lock them down. Thanks guys – I’m locking this thread now.
ToivoMedia saidWe’ve run an awards thingy for the last two years. http://web.archive.org/web/20120501063258/http://awards.envato.com/
digitalscience saidI think that did happen, a couple of years ago. It was called best of Envato 2012 or something. Am I the only one who remembers it? Maybe I just imagined it… This time should have more categories though…. More categories and more fun. There can be staff categories as well, for example most forum threads locked.
I’m hoping to get the forum troll award But seriously, I think what would be really cool is if nominees for awards were selected by Envato.. and then voted by the community to decide who wins. Maybe with live voting results for a week or something, could be fun!
Top selling items awards… exciting stuffI think the awards must be less about sales volumes and more about creative talent (artistic / technical skill), awards for innovation, awards for best new talent, awards for most original work etc
Ya – totally agree! Not sure what the plans are for this year, but I’m sure it will be about more than just top-sellers ;D
