Congrats, you are doing this very smart & impressive. I like the combination of affiliate and your own themes.

I hope the envato management will value this enough.

This still makes me mad, and I still wonder how the envato management thinks about potentially permanent account deactivations without prior notice.

Sorry vahid, I DO NOT AGREE . At all.

1) Is 4 days “well in advance”? 2) “actively confirm to us that they’ve read the KnowledgeBase information” > there was no word about this in the soft disablement notification, it was just the info that the item was soft disabled, and nothing about any active confirmation. I can post these emails here if you want me to. 3) The account deletion was NOT described as “temporarily”. It was SUDDENLY and unpredictable and like “forever, forget it dude”. You switched off the lights, just so. 4) I wanted to just delete the soft disabled item but there was no possible way for me to do so. Also, in the notification there was no word about where to edit the item or that not editing it would lead to deleting my account.

All in all, this was the worst communication and worst treatment I ever had to experience with ANY of my online partnerships.

Why is it so hard sayiing: “Sorry, we’ve made a terrible mistake?” If you or other staff members keep writing thousands of words why you were right and the disabled authors were wrong, it will only make things worse.

This was one of the worst weeks in my life, thanks to your treatment. Made me aware that I cannot sustainably rely on you. It’s like sitting on a catapult seat.

One more thing, Jarel: The notification of the soft-disabled item is from do-not-reply@themeforest.net and in this e-mail, there’s no word about “required confirmation as described in the notification” Also, there is no word about a time frame thats expiration would lead to banning my whole marketplace account!

Hi KarmaThemes, please let me know if there is some confusion with regards to the item you’re referencing. I see it’s still soft-disabled and has yet to be fixed, which is why your account would have been disabled pending receipt of required confirmation as described in the notification you received.

Hi Jarel, as I pointed out about a 10 times now, I’m not going to resubmit Kaytee HTML Theme as it’s 1) old and 2) not selling. Could you please just delete it?

EDIT : I CAN ’T delete it, and the notification came from do-not-reply@themeforest.net – so what should I do, and what should I have done???

I don’t know very well your case, were you using copyrighted material in your theme without the rights to use it? Which was the issue with you?

Parker

My former designer used celebrity images for a tiny “team” section in a preview. My bad I didn’t check enough. The item was soft disabled and I didn’t want to reupload it as it’s old and doesn’t sell anymore. But I replaced the images with licensed ones and AFTER THAT got banned. Just so, and they didn’t mention “temporary”, the message was like “banned forever. envato was using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, so to speak. I’d never treat any partner or customer like this.

I got disabled for a button looking similar to another author’s one, also if I design everything by myself and I never copy. I didn’t complain this much, also if my case was really unfair because I didn’t use any copyrighted material in my theme.

If you are making a living from envato sales, and they switch you off for nothing, do you think this is a sustainable business model?

I also think that with 6000+ items we can’t expect envato to apply rules based on the single and particular situations. They soft reject and disable the account of every item/author violating copyright… in some cases this can look unfair, in some others it doesn’t. The only thing we can be sure about is that in the first stage, who was acting not properly, is who was not respecting the rules.
NO NO NO . I’ve earned envato more than $20000 and I DO expect the 5 minutes it needs to contact me personally, rather than just switching the lights off and terminating my whole account, without even checking if I have resolved the issue or not.

This is not North Korea.

Hmm, I’m still unhappy with this. As I repeatedly pointed out, I have already removed the images I was notified of BEFORE I was “temporary” disabled. Also, the item was already soft-disabled, so this was more punishment than necessary in legal terms.

Regarding the “temporary disablement”: The email I got was written in the spirit of “you may send us your reconsideration request, but it’s our decision IF we reinstate your account at all”. The word “temporary” CANNOT be found in this email. Also, I couldn’t find anything about what happens to pending earnings. It took close to 24 hours until I was notified that my account would be reactivated.

All of this still leaves me speechless.
