It’s up to the client or company, usually when somebody want you to produce something from scratch you charge for the production, hours of work, complexity of the project and more.. so the value is not only for the final product but also on the time you’ve wasted and of course the quality of your product (your own value), also there is a license you sell to the client.
From my experience at the studio (way before I knew about Envato or any other marketplaces) you build your own prices it’s not related to any website but more like a decision of how much your work worth.
YouTube is just another great tool for marketing your products, When I started my channel I never realized it will bring so many customers to the studio but I still do it first of all for fun whenever I have spare time in-between projects.
There is no known formula for expose a good YouTube video, when something goes viral it’s usually unexpected even if your content is super amazing and high quality you can barely be exposed or seen by others, but I believe that it can’t harm to put your content on other social networks or media tools to gain extra exposure even if it’s not much it’s more than nothing.
Great thread BTW!
Again, sorry about my bad English.
I’m not a high-seller but I can share my experience as I am Envato content producer since 2009 mainly focus on AudioJungle and VideoHive.
In my case most of the companies, TV, commercials, game companies and other “Big Sharks” on the industry came from two main sources: our studio website and mostly from my personal YouTube Channel.
Yes, a few clients came from AudioJungle and VideoHive via personal messages during the years but they always compare a freelance projects to the prices they see on Envato which is FAR FAR AWAY from reality and nothing to compare because it’s Royalty Free and not a full production from scratch or an actual project.
I hope that helps a bit, Have a wonderful day!
