Drinking coffee. Still waiting for that promised post/thread about the review-queue-problem ;). What on earth is so hard about writing a simple post witch explains the situation?

Maybe you need a template:

»Dear Customers/Authors and Envato-Friends, we are sorry for the {insert excuse reason}. Since we are experiencing {insert reasonable facts}, we had to {insert your solution}. We are still working to solve all of the experienced problems and want to thank all of you, who supported us by sending feedback, and {insert communication channel 2}. Because we know that many authors experienced a huge drop in sales, the last months, we raise the author rate up to 70% for {insert timeframe between 7-30 days} (only for GR Authors). {insert a positive end phrase and a prediction for the future} {inser excuse again}

Regards, Envato«

Is it really that hard? I don’t think so ;)

It’s beginning to suck hard – really hard!

After nearly 25 days in queue, my Item get a soft rejection because a wrong preview resolution (594px instead of 590px).

I’ve fixed that and wrote to the reviewer, that my last item – where I had to replace the preview image also – was approved BUT the preview image wont show up. So I pleased him to check that.

So what happened? I got ANOTHER soft rejection for the exact same item. But now, it’s because of »garbled« data and the files can’t be opened. I’ve checked that, everything works fine on my system, but I exported the whole data AGAIN. Because I couldn’t find the failure, I wrote the reviewer that I can’t reproduce the error and he should make it clear WHICH file or image is broken and why.

So, my item is “approved” – the preview image is not showing up, it’s not in my portfolio and it got the prefix »Soft Disabled« BUT it’s on the frontpage of GR. GREAT JOB! And here is, what the reviwer is telling me:

“Congratulations! Your submission XYZ update has been approved.

Ok the item opens fine. I am going to approve and check the item description. If it works fine i will leave as is but if not working or coming across garbled i will disable for further review. Thanks”

WTH? He is still not making clear WHAT he is meaning and no reply to my previously written questions and notes whatsoever. Just one thing he pointed out really well: “That this is the last change for this item! Ridiculous, I think!

Come on Envato, you can’t be serious with that?! And now I can’t do anything . What should I do now? I am a bit baffled cause of this situation! Any other authors with the same experiences?

[Update] It disappeared from home Screen and is still showing up in the hidden section of my dashboard. I’m really getting angry with this crappy customer support we have to face since a few month – really!

Where did you get that wooden table? IKEA ? Really need it :-)))

Yep Ikea and not 400$ as PixFee said :D. The table-tops are called »VIKA BYSKE « and they cost $79,99 and 4 »VIKA ARTUR « for $30,00. So for the same workspace you would pay $279,89 :)

^ that’s super wooooooooooow!

Thanks »isacfabian« :).

I’ve seen you posting and don’t worry about having a Macbook or your own Windows Laptop. It really doesn’t matter what hardware you’re working on – as a freelancer. The only reason I’ve got a Macbook is: My clients expecting a Designer with a Macbook and/or an iPad cause they’re paying me 5.000 or up to 20.000 Euros for a single project. But at least: You really don’t need it to work :)

I’m individual but I also used “we” against “I” many times.

“We” sometime not mean a group of people.

Like just an example, Queen Elizabeth didn’t say I will do it , she says we will do it. So sometime “We” used as “I” for meaning a high value. Hope you guys understand. :P

Well, if the QUEEN is using »we« instead of »I« it’s called »Pluralis Majestatis« and says that the Queen is speaking for her subjects ^. Smartass over ^

Single Person and a Studio, owned by myself :). We are 4 Designers (print, ui and screen), 3 Photographers, 1 Webdesigner, 1 HUGE Code-Geek and a bunch full of Partners which are just amazing in what they do :).

We’re small, but we never want to be some of the »big players«. We love small to medium budget clients, who really love their work – like we do :)

Well 90% self taugh and 10% educated.

I started to »design« (today I definitely wouldn’t call it so) in the age of 13-14 with a program called »Terragen«. It’s a landscape generator and mostly controlled with numerical input viea the UI. After doing this a few month, I saw (im serious about this) a preinstalled version of PS7 on my machine, after I get it back from the servive (issues with the hdd). I opened the mysterious program and my first thought was: »Well, it’s MS Paint with a bit more functions!« and closed it :D. After a few more month, I saw a documentation about Commercial Photographers and Designers and how they use PHOTOSHOP . As I heard the word Photshop, I started to listen and watch. As the documentation was over I’ve gotten a whole new eye on PS and I wanted to the the same, great stuff, that I saw on the TV. So I began to work on tutorials, every single day, after school. I didn’t make my Homework, got bad grades (D and F), got to repeat one class and »broke up« school. I concentrated so hard on my education about visual design and art, that I’ve ignored all of my friends and became one of the greatest nerds around ^.

Finally i wanted to print out a poster in 2008 and as the boss saw my work, he asked me, where I’ve learned the stuff, if I’m study design or anything in this area. I replied that I’ve learned all by myself and he wanted me as a mediadesigner trainee – i accepted. After one year I’ve got fired. Mostly cause clients wanted me, the dummy trainee, as the responsible person for their jobs and absolutely DON ’T wanted my boss to get even a finger on the project. Clients claimed me as the real CEO and denominated my boss as the office cleaner.

Well since this day I’ve a self employed graphic designer, owning 2 agencies and made my own life.

I always call it: »I live my american way of life in the middle of germany!« Maybe that’s the reason I want to work and life in the U.S. – i don’t know ^

Well that’s my story, how I became a designer :)

The #eapea Hastag as Marketing Tool at Twitter

Okay for everyone who is not familiar with hashtags and who they work: Please read this short article: http://www.techforluddites.com/2009/02/the-twitter-hash-tag-what-is-it-and-how-do-you-use-it.html

The Idea behind The Idea behind the Hashtag is as simple as it sounds. Retweet two or three items a day from an other author who is using the #eapea hashtag, to spread theire work as much as you can. The counteraction will be, that other authors also retweeting YOUR items and your items will reach a much bigger audience :).

For example: Item 1 from Author A Author “A” is tweeting his item to his, let’s say 300 followers. (his maximum reach is 300 people) Author “B” is searching for the #eapea-Hashtag in his Twitter client. He will see AND retweet the item of author “A”. Author B got 1500 follwer. Author C is doing the same, but with his 600 followers and so on.

Normally the Item 1 from Author A will reach 300 people MAX in twitter (if he is not using any other related hashtags in his tweet). With just 2 retweets he has reached up to 2400 POTENTIAL buyers instead of just 300.

Now Author A is retweeting one item from each author who retweeted his item.

Soooo, hopefully I could point out the strategy behind this hashtag :). Any questions or suggestions? Write it ;)
