Sorry if I offended you in any way by providing that link I tought it was what you were asking for..

Here is a step by step tutorial:

  • Download the file from themeforest (it will be a zip file)
  • Unpack (e.g unzip) the file you just downloaded by using a zip client (Winzip or other)
  • Install a Zip client, the most popular is Winzip
  • After installing the program locate your downloaded file, right click it and select unzip
  • it will most likely ask you where to unpack the contents of the zip so choose a folder
  • Inside the just unpacked file there will be another zip file -> this is the one you need
  • Go to your wordpress installation
  • Log in to your admin panel
  • Go to appearance -> themes
  • Choose “install themes” (top tab)
  • Choose “upload theme” and press on the button
  • Select the zip file that was inside your downloaded file
  • upload it and after it has finished press activate

Hope it helps!!

“Wordpress installation”... what would that be when it’s home for the weekend, please?

You have not wasted your money, the theme is guaranteed to work, you just have to upload it properly! :) Check out this link: https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Themes It explains in detail how to install a theme (numerous ways)! If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask them here! :)

Thanks, but you need to UNZIP and EXTRACT the file first. Dont tell me there are even more problems awaiting in having to install it? Jeez Just want to know how to get from the zipped file to the onscreen live theme to start uploading images. Step by step. It isnt explained anywhere, youve just shunted me off to another convoluted forum!

This feels liked a great way to have a coronary, better leave it there for now.

Why doesnt Themeforest give step by step guide to actually getting the theme displayed and ready to tweak and upload photo files to on customers computer?

Should be a basic part basic customer care/support post purchase.

Have downloaded jzip and re-downloaded PhotoNexus using that. Same problem, cant get anything to open in any relevant way. Have a pdf explaining Photo Nexus, thats it!

Just want to know step by step how to get the Theme onscreen to upload my archive of jpegs too. Seems a tall order.

Did you try to upload the .zip file to your cpanel? It extracts the .zip file automatically. You don’t have to unzip it.
Don’t do this – as this buyer already has a forum post stating this does not work because you should not be trying to upload your entire downloaded zip file – unzip then follow instructions.

Okay, thanks. Guess I just wasted $30

Can anyone point me to instructions to unzip a downloaded theme once purchased? I bought PhotoNexus yeaterday and it’s still languishing in the downloads folder. Double click, left/right click as I may, nothing runs, nothing extracts, nothing opens. Okay, have re-downloaded. left click/right click / double click whatever, I just get a new popup opening with four folder icons; _MACOSX, photonexus-pac and the same two repeated under blank folder icons. I’m getting nowhere with this, why isn’t it made obvious tpo customers how to get the downloaded file into the onscreen form we see in PhotoNexus Live Demo and to get uploading image files ? Strange, the purchase procedure was a cinch! :-)
try re-downloading it, it could have been a corrupt download
This could be the case. Are you sure you have Winzip installed? Or any other program that can unzip zipped files? :)

Thanks. I assumed, with Windows being as inclusive as it nowadays is, that there would be unzip software already installed and obvious to use. Will try a new download as suggested, saw the option before but I assumed I’d have to pay the same again. Don’t think its a corrupt file though, when I double-clicked to extract it before, all I got was another document opening with the Theme’s components separated but no obvious way to go from there. No way to actually realize the theme on screen and get to work uploading images.

Maybe a video on what to do to get started after downloading Themeforest stuff might lower untrained customer stress levels? :S
