Medias mostly broadcast what people are interested in, right? That means people in general are just not interested to hear about tragedies in 3rd world countries for example – sad, but true. They want to hear about things that can change their lives, and America still being a role model for many is a reason why they get so much attention in news.
Media job these days seems not to offer correct and valuable information but instead to spread panic and gossip so people can become addicted. I agree, money has huge impact and it is actually very sad to see how differently human life is treated on the media.
Four days after one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history, we still see all over the news, not only american, no matter what country you are from, articles written everywhere and discussions all over the world.
Although this is a horrific tragedy, the world is truly shocked. What seems ironic is that hundred of children are dying daily all over the world, not only because of material needs but almost similiar like the one that happened on US and all you get is a short 10 second video and an impression that this is normal. Life in US seems to be more valuable than life in the other countries.
I know, the circumstances might be different, US is not on war, but seriously imagine, if all the medias and therefore people would react in the same way like they reacted for this tragedy, I think the circumstances on countries that are currently on war would be different.
This is not supposed to be a political discussion, just a discussion intended to show what the media is doing to us and hopefully to take more seriously that a person is a person no matter how small.
That image is good but it’s the wrong way to approach the problem. You cannot feel better by thinking about other people’s suffering, it’s stupid .. you can only be more depressed.
Right, but you have to put some perspective here.
That image can make you feel bad because people are suffering .etc, or can make you feel grateful for what you have and realize that you are luckier than you might think.
Hapinness come from within, not from comparing yourself with anyone.
“Don’t compare yourself with anyone in this world…if you do so, you are insulting yourself.” -Bill Gates
First, relax, you are not in any danger, enjoy this positive support from the community, which means that people care about each other and that alone is one the greatest thing humans can do.
Graphic-Studio just showed you an awesome image, which hopefully reminds you that how lucky you are to be alive. I’ve seen people who no matter what, will always find a way to moan about their problems and I’ve seen people who no matter what happened to them, always found a way to be happy. I am sure that you wife appreciates more just your presence and that alone is more than any gift you can offer to her. Just like any other people on the planet you will have hard and awesome moments, you might be in a bad times now but good times will come for sure. Take care!
Just in case (which is what I did) go outside check out the moon and see if you can see 2 other planets behind the moon (besides it) if you have a telescope you can see it better. And let me know if you did see the planets. You don’t have to be a science to see the planets behind the moon That will prove something better instead of base things on theory. After all we won’t believe something until we see it with our own eyes.
Is the moon there when nobody is looking?
MRMdesigns saidhey just woundering what country are your from?
It’s Lithuania, the country of most beautiful girls in the world (on a percentage to overall population). When some foreigners come to visit our streets they usualy walk with boners in their pants. And I am dead serious. Nowhere else in the world I have seen more beautiful woman than here walking in streets.http://lithuaniangirls.tumblr.com/ and no they are not models, they are simple girls. I know some of them We are lucky
This is dangerous
tiberiualexander saidThis is the perfect example of the illusion created by society that human mind is somehow limited. If it can be imagined, it can be created.
Also, I am 100% sure that the human mind is not that powerful
It is not an illusion created by society. I don’t like politics, religion, dogmas, I never watch TV, I have my own beliefs molded by years of reflections and reading philosophy, science and the so-called “fringe science”. Also, I meant that the human mind is currently not that powerful, but I didn’t say it won’t be someday. For now, we are just some little ants compared to the greatness of the Universe. We don’t even understand more than 5% of the Universe. If we knew all the secrets of the Universe, we wouldn’t know how to handle them. We would be almost gods, and that kind of power is dangerous.
Anyway, please imagine the 16th dimension (I have a pretty good idea about how the 10th would look, but I want to go further). Or imagine a new colour. Or imagine an entity that could create the Universe and describe how that entity was born. Then create that entity yourself.
See what I’m talking about? Even our imagination is currently limited. But check out the video I recommended on the 15th page of the topic. Our children will be smarter, and their children even smarter. Our brains are forced to evolve because we live in this era of information.Anyway, the world won’t end in 2012 and nothing will change http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjKUqQ2uSzg . I don’t think we’ll experience any kind of awakening or something like that. I want it to happen, but that doesn’t mean it will.
Knowledge is limited, not imagination. We need to have more experiences in order to achieve greatness. I don’t think you can measure our understanding about the universe, and since the universe is supposed to be infinite it is pretty obvious that you cannot make comparisons.
What is certain is that everything is uncertain. The base for science is doubt, uncertainity, which means that you can never really have a theory which in the future will not somehow collapse. Different scientists have different ideas and most of the time they encounter each other. The video which shows that our children will be smarter can be proven to be false. There are no more evolutionary pressures driving gross human evolution and with this information era, actually, I honestly believe that we are getting more and more dumb.
@digitalscience, I admire you very much, but I disagree with you. I don’t believe there is a duality, I don’t believe there is a soul, I’m not an eternal soul, my personality is the result of the connection between my brain cells and thousands of years of evolution. It may sound dark and sad, but it is not. It is beautiful to accept who we are and stop lying to ourselves with such stories as religions.
Whatever you read, whether is science, art, religion .etc they all try to explain the origin of human species and the universe in different ways but the aspirations are the same, they all lead individuals towards freedom.
There is no such a thing as truth or a lie, all it matters is what you believe.
“For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.” - Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
