First of all i didn’t mention my item… I wasn’t talking about my presets not a single time.
As for that motion graphics artist let me say that i’ve won prestige Intel’s award for best Video of 2009 and i work for major company that makes 70% of commercials you see on Balkan, i am a member of non-profitable movie makers that go around the world and shoot movies, so i think that i am MAYBE just MAYBE a little bit in the film industry. Not to mention that i’ve worked on couple of BIG films in Serbia that i am not allowed to speak about.
Since you talked about my item let me say something, i made that file for one thing and that is money. Youtube is filled with young filmmakers that want to have that hollywood like movie.
I researched before making this product, i’ve been talking to a lot of random people to tell me what is film look to them and this is what i came up with. A lot of people use regular cam coders such as Sony, Panasonic etc… that shoot a video with no DOF at all and 30 fps which makes footage look pretty smooth just regular. When i played back at them footage that was 24p they instantlly said WOW THAT LOOKS LIKE A MOVIE , every single one said that. Then i played back 24p with DOF and they were amazed. Then i just tinted it a bit with cold blue and the movie that was shot on snow just became more freezing and they were again amazed.
When you show people something that is different from what they are used to see they will digg it, they will find it amusing and with my presets they will give their footage just that small difference from that regular videos and they will be happy.
Mocarg defined the “film-look” using one sentecen. He is a great motion graphic artist. Ask the same to a film director and we will have a different answer.
I did ask and we had a reaaaally long conversation and this is the conclusion.
The only way to get a proper film look is to shoot on film PERIOD .
But if you don’t have the film you have to do something to at least try to replicate this and that is by shooting with 24p, DOF and playing with colors… This way your footage will be different from the regular and it will stand out.
I am not offended (even if you did say a couple of times “No offense”) but you said something about me that wasn’t true, just because i do project files for VH doesn’t mean that that is what i do and that is me. Movie industry is my priority and VH is something that is fun for me to do.
