Congratulations to my dear friend Milos Petrenj for reaching this cool achievement!
Hey guys, i just wanted to share my happiness. Today i became a father! She is amazingly beautiful and her name is Stella!
Oh yes – its really time consuming and also hard core! But the idea is just brilliant!
I’d like to give an important notification to Authors who are not VAT registered businesses:
Make sure to check with law in your country if you need to be VAT registered if you are supplying / receiving service from/to third country such as Australia. In my country, I don’t need to register for VAT if I’m supplying service to Australia (selling items, reseller model), but I need to be registered if I receive service from Australia.
Envato charging us with Author’s fee (which will be invoiced at the end of every month) is receiving service from Australia and it forces me to register for VAT.
Just more and more headache thanks to this platform nonsense…
Exactly! Same (very similair) like in my country (Czech Rep.)
Till now i did not have to be VAT registered since i did not go over some income treshold ($45K/ last 12 months). I just count my overall income at the end of the year – cut it by 60% cost fee and from the rest i pay income tax.
Now with the new system (Platform) i wont be able to use this 60% and above it all i will pay 20% every quartal of VAT in advance no matter if my income came from EU or outside EU – once i´m VAT registered i have to … ( sure i can charge something back due to invoices with VAT – but i can´t see anything like that on my actuall statement/ invoices).
For me it makes a different about 6000EUR per year only on taxes and alot of expensive accountancy services more … not talking about headaches!!
I´m not a big seller or company and this is a true delabreaker with Envato for me!
I talked to my accountancy agency about the previous “reseller” system because of the new EU VAT rules and we found a way to work it fine … now everything changes over a weekend.
(sry for my english)
Maybe i´m too pesimistic but this will lead to one thing and its spamming the buyers!
I really think that some of the authors will add their buyers to some newletter maillist and spam them with links to new items etc.:( Those buyers will never ever buy anything here …
Sorry but this may (will for sure) happen.
Yesterday one of my friend (a video games developing complany owner, programmer and also composer) – closed their DRM Free e-shop with their games because of this new VAT s%$t!
