It sure sounded not romantic, the piano sound is more like something serious is about to happen, or already is happening :).

Do you think this track of mine is in the right place?

Good question! The use of this song seems like it would be in more of a cinematic setting. I would re-categorize this song as Cinematic/Dramatic, Action, Adventure personally. Just my thoughts.

I dont know. I dont nitpick so much into the search i guess like you do. Your song has 8 sales already…no matter where it shows up..people click on it because it has sales. Maybe im doing it wrong but i cant take into account every search.

Of course I’m going see how my songs work in the search system. This is stock after all and the search feature (though there is always much room for improvement) is vitally important to the marketplace. I don’t see how you can take full advantage of the system if you don’t care enough to learn it. And it doesn’t take much to do. It was easy to perform some searches myself and draw some obvious conclusions from those results. Took no time to figure out.

Hi Phil,

I agree with Kabbalistic. I would have placed it to “Dramatic” as well. It’s quite heroic. Much more than romantical.

What it means for the search results? ... don’t know! At least it’s placed right.

And when I look on the sales and the release date I ask myself how it counts to be in the weekly top seller list?

Is a week ment from – for example – monday to monday? Or is the relevant week 7 days from your release date? Sorry, I hope it’s understandable what I ask for.

Wish you some more sales the next days to go there! :)

Hey man. Thanks for chiming in! It’s helpful.

The popular files list updates every Monday at midnight AEDT. Which works out to be 9 am Sunday morning for me. The popular files page calculates the most popular files since its last updated 7 days prior at the same time. 8 sales wouldn’t have landed me there.

I wonder if there should be an ongoing updated popular list that gets updated everyday, but measures the top sellers of the last 7 days previous to that particular day… Perhaps then my song could have made it at some point then. Anyway, that’s for another thread… ;)

Thanks Kabbalistic and Tortoise. Your feedback is helpful.

The additional problem I saw with this category, though, is with recent changes (I think in the last week) with the search algorithm. Currently, the search algorithm now also favors the terms searched that the song is categorized in. For example, this song did well in its first two days of being live and, therefore, had decent search results. But since it is in “Dramatic, Action, Adventure,” whenever someone searched “action” it was high up in the result, but doesn’t make sense in regards to this song (“action” is not a keyword I submitted with this song. But the reviewer categorized it there and thus yielded a good result when searching for “action” or “adventure,” regardless of those not being included in my keywords). I don’t know how long this change will stay, but I would rather have a good result for “romantic” rather than “action” or “adventure” for this song.

This thread is meant to be an ongoing thread to ask for or offer help with song categorization.

You may find yourself confused as to how you should categorize a specific song. Ask for help here.

or

Like me, you uploaded a song to a specific category and the reviewer changed it to another category and now you are questioning who is right, you or the reviewer.

So here’s my plea for help: I uploaded my song An Emotional Rise to Glory to the Cinematic / Romantic, Sentimental category. My reviewer switched it to the Cinematic / Dramatic, Action, Adventure category.

Now, it for sure hits “sentimental”, but maybe not “romantic.” The title itself as well as the taiko drums, soaring strings, horns, choir, and snare drum hits the “dramatic” category, but not at all “action” or “adventure.” Would appreciate some help here. Thank you! :)

And it happened again, right? The new featured authors should be up by now. Am I right?
