A reasonable july, over double July 2013 which was good. I have 5 for August so far and thanks to Phil’s advice a new profile image and avatar which I am pleased with as in keeping with a more cinematic feel/vibe thing…...........thanks Phil most respect to you! :)

Thanks, Graham! Good luck to you. :)

...but AJ is changing lilke weather, we know ..) :)

I’ll agree to that! July was my BME since starting, but August so far? Hmm. Didn’t seem to continue in the way I’d have liked it to, and now I’m a little paranoid, as the sudden drop seemed to have coincided with the new homepage changes.

Another thing I do find curious is that quite a few authors are saying they are getting good extended license sales. Yet for me, it’s a very rare event and receiving much less extended sales now than before I had a top selling item! Surely, statistically I should be getting more, right? All very odd.

Matt, you’re not alone. July was my 3rd BME (surprised me – cuz it’s July…), but either coinciding with the homepage changes or just end of the month/beginning of the month/weekend slowness, this last week has been the slowest week in a long time. Of course I may be a little paranoid as well, but then I remember all the times we’ve all been paranoid before and it comes down to looking too closely at sales… step back and look month-to-month, this always helps me. Is there gradually average monthly growth over the long-term? Yes. I try to let that be the measure.

By the way, I feel you about the extended license sales, though. I really feel like there should be more… :/

So one of the authors involved (the guy who had the song up first – not the new guy) contacted me about this situation. The problem seems to come down with how dubstep libraries are setup these days and how pre-ready presets are. I just didn’t know – I don’t have any of those libraries. The new song seemed to have used the same presets to construct a song (I think it’s similar to GarageBand days, where you had verses and choruses of the same song that you could piece together to create the song’s form – correct me if I’m wrong). But this first guy mentioned how surprised he was at how closely this new song was to his – as he constructed some elements from scratch and he wonders if this new guy heard his song before writing his own version of the song. The songs were so similar that I showed a friend of mine and he said, “Yes, those are the same song.”

But – it turns out – the first guy really did nothing wrong, as far as I can tell by the information he shares with me. In fact, he sent me a screenshot of his project. And I really like the song when I heard it first – which is why I remembered it.

So is this problem in the presets of these dubstep libraries? Are these presets becoming too much drag-n-drop and less composing? How can you even begin to look at copyright infringement when libraries already write chunks of the song for you? Then whose fault is it really? Should composers steer clear of these presets altogether and err on safety or try to manipulate the original sound enough that it would be hard to imitate?

Both tracks were hard-disabled, I was told by this guy. It’s an unfortunate situation. I feel a bit responsible – but if you heard the two songs, you would have reported it, too. Like I said, the first guy was even surprised. I hope he can plead his case or be required to change it enough to be not such a stock preset. It was a good song.

Would really be interested in some thought on this! Thanks.

Totally sucks, similar things happen on GraphicRiver and no doubt other marketplaces too.

I’m sorry to hear that… :/

Destination Locksville for this thread.

Eh… nobody was called out. Just bringing an issue up that will need attention. AJ can’t afford to count on it’s authors to catch this sort of thing. There are just too many songs for us… but they ALL go through the reviewers. My question is how do we shut it down during the review process. Soundizer’s got something figured out. There needs to be a collaboration.

A track by a new author (their 1st song) that was just approved was one I had heard on AudioJungle before… sure enough, I found the same track by a completely different author. Both authors claim to be exclusive authors. Both have 0 sales for this song. So… how did one get it from the other (is one not really exclusive)? ...or did they BOTH steal it from some place else? ...or is it the same guy under two exclusive accounts, submitting the song again under a different name?

If only AudioJungle had a way for reviewers to check the fingerprints of songs already approved… Is this something AudioJungle should collaborate with Soundizer on??

Anyway, a support ticket was submitted.

But I wonder how often this happens.

Let’s be each other’s ears and eyes as best as we can and keep this marketplace safe!

Here’s one I was just notified about. One of my favorites because it uses a new song I’m really proud of! Thanks. :)

Is that you pictured? Is that you singing?? How old are you??? :bigwink:

Yeah, just a couple tweaks and you’re well on your way! Please don’t give up! You could have a very bright future here. AudioJungle needs your fresh, young tastes and ideas, your contagious passion, and desire to do good (just listened to “The Runner”). You’re very talented.

Hang in there! :)

Phil
