Hello,

This is due to the fact that you installed the wrong zip file.

Go to your downloads page here on ThemeForest and locate the theme you wish to download. You’ll notice a dropdown download button with two options. Choose the option “installable wordpress theme” and install that zip.

Your other option is to unzip the file you tried to install and you’ll notice a zip with a downloadable wordpress theme.

Kind regards

One of your biggest and fastest-growing competitors recently confirmed to me that their business model is a “reseller/commission” and the commission is always 70%, even if you just started selling or have sold $1 million worth of products, and there is no “exclusivity” monopoly-like rules over there.

Can you share this on personal message please?

Thanks

Would like to know this as well! :) Really not happy with the way things are going here.

The themes being submitted with over 15+ themes all in one are definitely not one theme (i’ll refer to them as über themes in the rest of this post). They should be treated as 15 separate themes and therefore shouldn’t be accepted.

I get that these themes sell big time and that is what Envato wants, they are a business after all. It does however send a bad message to authors who have been around for a long time, create beautiful themes and who are now being pressured by the competition of these persons/companies creating über themes which (and i don’t want to generalize, but here it goes:) are usually just a bland re-skin of the same standard layout we all know (row with animating numbers, fixed menu, three columns with icons etc.) loaded with 20 plugins and an insane amount of animations. This is completely against the core philisophy of WordPress itself.

Too bad that they aren’t going to do anything about it. In the long run everyone will probably be forced to start creating über themes and we’ll be back in the situation before the price change: everyone will begin complaining that they earn too little for the work they put into it and it will be because of the actions of the people who are now creating these über themes. I don’t understand why Envato doesn’t see this being a probable outcome.

Hi guys,

Recently I was wondering: I’m using a custom metabox to display a featured video in posts with the video format. (the video is displayed on top of the post header in full width).

But i wanted to change this since:

a) it’s not really user friendly b) it messes with your posts when switching themes

So basicly i want to display the first video inserted in the post content somewhere else while hiding it inside the post itself. I searched on how to get the first link/Oembed content and extract it from the post. However I did not find any solutions.. Could anyone point me in the right direction? :)

Thanks guys!

Hey guys,

I’ve set up flexslider with a custom controlsContainer. However once i add another slider (it can be set in the admin panel) there are obviously two controls in each of those control boxes and it bugs out.

I tried adding the ID from the post to the controls box but without luck.. Anyone else has done this already?

    $('.flexslider-small').flexslider({
        animation: 'fade',
        touch: true,
        slideshow: true,
        controlNav: true,
        directionNav: false,
        smoothHeight: true,
        controlsContainer: $('.flexslider-controls-box-' + id_link )
    });

var id_link = $(".flexslider-small").attr('id');
<div class="flexslider-controls-box-<?php the_id(); ?>" />
$('.flexslider-controls-box-' + id_link )

Anyone got an idea on how to output this as the controlsContainer?

Kind regards

Maybe with the stamp method? isotope stamp

Thanks for the reply! :) I read about it but it seems you can only use it with a position absolute. So i’m not sure that really is an option.

Recently someone asked me if I could put in google adsense in his website. He has a masonry style layout with two posts on each row and a sidebar.

He wanted the ad to be displayed between the first and the second row (see image below)

layout

  • 1 = the post in a masonry element column with dynamic width and height
  • 2 = containing div of all post
  • 3 = where the ad should be placed

My initial thought was to try and wrap each row, however since the masonry elements are absolutely positioned the relative container won’t contain them.

Secondly i tried giving the container that i had put around every other two posts to get the height from the first item but that didn’t work since i then got the correct height for that container but it didn’t push the second row down either with margin or padding.

Is there any other way that this could possibly be achieved? Thanks!

I had this happen to me a few days ago.

Basically the person gave it a 1 star because (s)he was disappointed that one should upgrade WordPress to a paid version (i’m assuming (s)he is referring to the premium wordpress.com package where you can install “custom themes”?).

While I do feel sorry for that person since (s)he won’t be able to use my theme, I even have a FAQ section on my website that explains the difference between .Com and .org WordPress installations. Even more so there is an extensive support database on wordpress.com where this is covered as well.

As a single author I cannot be expected to educate everyone on the difference between wordpress.com and .org and add this to each item i have for sale here because I have to worry about a one star review. The effort should be coming from both ends and I cannot believe that this is projected as being my fault for not being “transparant” enough and not providing the “headache free WordPress themes” I claim to provide on my website.

Furthermore I always answer as fast as possible and give extensive support (even certain customizations) for free. The fact that this person did not contact me only makes it harder for me to swallow since I am sure I could have cleared this up with him/her.

Hello guys,

Searched the forum but found nothing quite the same since they all want to give away a free copy without any purchase.

I was wondering If i was permitted to buy a license of one of my own themes and then giving that license away in a giveaway? Or should it actually be purchased on the account of the person who recieves the theme?

Thanks guys, Kind regards

When I have to deal with customers like these, when they were making a lot of change requests and requests difficult customizations, I also recommended them to contact Envato Support for a refund, if the item is not as advertised or it it doesn’t work as expected…. After all, when you buy pants for instance, you can’t expect them to transform into a coat, right? When you buy the pants, you see that they are pants – not a coat.

Best possibility I feel :)
