Sales went down by 50% in March, and continue to go downward by the month. I like this site, but I think something changed here. I can’t blame it all on lack of self-promotion.

I’ll join the chorus of people who say sales have fallen off a cliff. The last 2 months have been the worst I’ve had in 8+ months. I haven’t done anything differently as far as promoting myself, so I doubt that’s the reason. I suppose I’ll just wait and see as there is little else I can do.

I’ll add my voice to the choir. My portfolio features many cinematic orchestral cues of varying feels and lengths. You can also hear them and contact me through my website: http://www.progressnotes.net

It would think it’s only a matter of time before sites like this for bigger music distributors appear. It could be a massive revenue stream. I’m not sold on the fact that people who do these types of small productions are always looking for original music. if they can legally license their favorite song, I think they will, and that’s becoming a very real possibility.

I’ve wondered about this scenario, but there are so many people involved in a major label release who would need to get a piece of the licensing fees. Would all the producers, the long list of composers and contributors for a given track, the musicians, and the publisher collectively agree to license their hit track for $15? I don’t see that happening any time soon. These folks are used to major money at every turn.

I think the reason the small distributor can do it (although I don’t know how effectively they are doing it) is that they deal with the indie artist who doesn’t have as much business/economic red tape to sort through.
I have to agree with pink zebra. People make youtube videos for one of two reasons. 1 to get ad revenue or 2 to sell something. Of course there are those that just want to upload a video of their cat. Point being major artists would not license for small dollars especially if the user stands to gain a lot for using a major song. I believe a new media explosion is about to happen. Those artists with great content stand to benefit greatly. Audio jungle has increased its sales the last few years. Is there any reason to think it will slow? I doubt it, at least in the short term.

I’d like to hope you guys are right. Either way, I’m sure we’ll all keep trucking along ;)

I would probably go with the 1 for $150 option because the market for small YouTube-centric productions is drying up, in my opinion. People can go to one particular small music distributor’s site and license a song from their non-production oriented library for a fraction of what it costs here, maybe one of their favorite songs. It would think it’s only a matter of time before sites like this for bigger music distributors appear. It could be a massive revenue stream. I’m not sold on the fact that people who do these types of small productions are always looking for original music. if they can legally license their favorite song, I think they will, and that’s becoming a very real possibility.

That scares me because I’d say the vast majority of us are on AJ for exposure. We all hope to make relationships with clients that will turn into something bigger. I’m not sure if that’s going to be that viable an outlook as time marches on in regards to YouTube videos. If someone is willing to pay $150 for my song, that means that it’s not just the most inexpensive option, it’s important enough to them to get it.

Yeah, I started an account YEARS before I started taking it seriously, and since then I’ve done decently for myself (and Envato) without any recognition from AJ whatsoever. I’m not exactly sure how that all works, but just like everything else in my life, I’ll just keep on trucking and hope that eventually things will catch on…

Here are a couple of orchestral selections I think could serve as wonderful reinforcements to the dramatic imagery.
