I agree with Ceasar. There are many items that require the absolute latest version of the browser/wordpress/php, yet they do get approved. I understand Envato wants to keep this group as small as possible, however in this case I think they exaggerating since this plugin was built exclusively to fix WP 3.9’s missing features. Rejecting this item because it doesn’t work with previous versions really makes no sense to me.
My item has also just been approved: http://codecanyon.net/item/modern-html5-responsive-video-player/8406321
Just submitted my video player, lets hope it gets approved soon
Good luck to the rest!
This is a little off-topic, but how does someone copy someone else’s Wordpress site? Sure, you can copy all of the source code, but that still leaves all of the PHP code missing which Wordpress needs for its themes. Rewriting this code is too much work (especially for an offender), so either the offender is using a non-Wordpress copy, or your friend has a security leak somewhere which made it possible for the offender to copy the source files which is pretty serious.
You should check if Google has an API for that. If they don’t, you’ll have to find a different source as scraping it from their site is unreliable and (technically) illegal. With the data from the API you could use my iCal & XML calendar and modify it a little.

Also, I’d use file_put_contents(‘myXML.xml’, $xml->content0->asXML()) instead
