On the upload form, it actually tells you this under the description textfield. So yes, using an image might look nice but I suspect it’s not quite so clever from a search results point of view.

That’s a scary form, it gives you no confirmation. Hopefully after staying up hours and hours after I should and almost 8 straight hours of “treasure hunting” it did actually go through!

Pretty much that. When I first started I was doing the whole bidding site thing and now past clients from there (and for some reason a lot of their siblings) keep me in work. It meant it was a bit slower to start kicking off than a huge advertising push, but I’ve got to know my clients and it works for me.

Wish i knew how to develop plugins. any good resources?

http://codex.wordpress.org/Writing_a_Plugin goes over some basics, ie how to get WP to actually recognise your plugin etc, and has some good links at the bottom. It is very basic so lots of people skip it and just figure things out by looking at other plugins but I always like to start from the very beginning with new things.

I only started playing with plugins a few months ago but this post was amazing http://planetozh.com/blog/2009/09/top-10-most-common-coding-mistakes-in-wordpress-plugins/. That whole blog is full of really helpful stuff for plugin authors and while that particular post is more about what not to do, it gives links to other articles on most of what it covers so you can learn to do things right from the start.
