Thankyou for being such a proflic buyer here! :)

From your opinion, how do you think this should be handled, assuming statement that the current system of free, unlimited support is unsustainable, as such a committed buyer, what do you think the best solution would be?

I’d love to hear more buyers opinions on this also.

Hi tommusrhodus

I have actually purchase one of your themes :)

Personally I rarely use support because I am a developer by trade and I am very familiar with WordPress.

But this being said, I personally think it should be 2 versions.

1. Theme/Plugin with no support/limited support (bug fixes etc) = $40 -$63 lifetime membership, as it stands.

2. Theme/Plugin with no support/limited support (bug fixes etc) = $40 -$63 lifetime membership, as it stands… And if and only if the author the author opt’s in then there should be an hourly support package made to the authors requirements (price and time).

This way the buyer gets the theme for a low price, knowing what he/she gets.

If the author does not offer extra support then the buyer knows this and most likely the author gets a little less sales from buyers. (not from buyers who actually know how to code though)

If the buyer feels they have an issue that is not a bug and is something from their customisation, server, plugins, then they should as in any profession… pay the author for their time.

One thing in life which is vital is time, everyone has a limited time on earth so why sell your life away on the cheap.

I may have spent $8000 – $10000 on Envato but please don’t thank me because I have made probably $30000 – $50000 from your amazing themes, and my time, customisations among other things.

To build a theme, I am under no illusion that it takes a month or 2 to create from scratch, if I offer a client a month or 2 plus my work, I would never have any work. Sometimes buyers forget that the price is ridiculously low here.

I have purchased 260 themes and plugins from Envato.

Probably costing me $8000 – $10000 over the last 5 years.

Personally I agree with the author on this, you are making them slaves and this should not be the case.

There are ethical rules that should not be broken and on this rule, you are going across a boundary which could mean the downfall of Envato!

Hi, the search on here is better than it was only a year ago which is good, but its still poor in my opinion.

But I would like to have a couple of better things to search with.

For instance a popular list for items that are 3 months old or newer. Popular list by categories.

At present when I browse html templates or wordpress themes, you only have most popular for all categories within them options.

When viewing most popular, the html section is riddled with admin templates and one page templates, which I never use so that is simply useless to me, I would like to view popular by category, this would not be hard to implement, its a simple query and a very simple algorithm, depending on which way you decide to go with it.

I have started to get a little overwhelmed really and have even started using other websites because finding things on here is getting harder, and new homepage is basically the same as the original but with a worst user interface.

This site is still living in 2009 and really needs to get its act together on interacting with the buyers a little in regards to giving us what we want.

We do not want a homepage which all the new stuff is at the bottom, we want all the new stuff at the top.

We also want to be able to select the categories for most popular rather than being dictated too!

Please for once Envato actually do something for the good of buyers, which in-turn will be good for Authors.

Here is a simple equation which you may understand.

if($buyer === 'Happy'){
    $karma = array(
         'buyer' => 'buys more',
         'Author' => 'author sells more',
         'Envato' => 'makes more $$$$'
    );
} else {
   $karma = array(
         'buyer' => 'starts looking elsewhere',
         'Author' => 'author sells less',
         'Envato' => 'eventually turns into TemplateMonster'
    );
}

Saturating the marketplace with lots of items and no way of actually reaching them items is just driving us buyers crazy.

People may think I am a buyer who can’t use the site, please check my buying icon and my membership year icon, I know how to use this site, I have for years.

But its getting harder to find things which is costing time and effort which is making me use other sites.

P.S… the new homepage design is really poor!

I ended up using the Paypal option.

I find it ridicolous that i can’t deposit an arbitrary number, eg: 15$ instead of being forced to deposit 20-30 $ – which apparently expire after 1 year.. Such kind of practice is what i would define as stealing !!!!

I can’t fathom why 15$ can’t be deposited, when 20$ can, the money is supposed to be used for purchasing stuff on the site – not gather interests.

Stop whining for goodness sake!

As in most cases when you deposit money into a store card/wallet there is always an expiry date.

This marketplace is so cheap that it is robbery for authors not buyers…

As for the limitations on how much to input into your account is because Envato are being generous by saying if you deposit $20 or more we will take the hit on PayPal charges else you can take the $2 hit by just paying for the item using PayPal just for 1 item.

I am a believer for the $2 surcharge as the prices on here are so low why should Envato pay for the fees that apply, if you dont want to pay the extra fees then simply dont buy.

Most themes on here follow clean html outputs, else they would not pass review. It may have minor faults which is created using iframes etc becasue of Youtube, Vimeo and other things.

As for the minifies of the css and js files should be done using plugins which is the WordPress way. Plus I am pretty sure that if an author minifies Css and Js files it will be soft rejected because the code needs to be as easily editable as possible.

As for correct H1 – H6 usage, this should be within most themes, granted they might not be but it should. If its not it is easily corrected by simply adding your h1 titles etc when doing your content.

Again though you can go further and use SEO plugins which make most of the themes on here work well with SEO.

Hello For me, I think that technical support should not be linked to the holiday and do not at night or day, especially while having serious problems with the customer may cause the interruption of their sites.

so let me get this correct.

You believe that because you purchased a theme (which the author only gets between 50% -70% of the money minus taxes etc) that an author should be at beck and call no matter if its at 2pm in the afternoon on Tuesday March 12th or 2am in the morning on Christmas day.

I can understand this when you pay $10,000’s but when the author only makes about $25 – $30 be happy to get any support.

Hi, I am in need for some Drupal developers who are already authors on here, to develop the themes which are on my other account.

We are also looking for Joomla developers to do the same :)

For those who are interested please email me from my profile.

Hi, I have a couple of accounts on here which I develop Html, WordPress themes on and partner with other designers.

I am looking for a designer who has exceptional pixel perfect designing skills to partner with.

We can either start on a new joint account or we can use Theme Forest account which has a higher percentage rate.

I will give my other account names to those who interest me in a partnership so you can check my credentials also :)

We can negotiate percentage depending on the quality, work each of us do!

Please message me via my profile if you are interested.

Please supply:

Name Country you live in Designs you have created on here or elsewhere Please let me know if you can do: Psd, Html etc etc.

Thanks and hopefully look forward to hearing from you

Correct me if im wrong, but The Zilla shortcode plugin never came with the pricing tables.

So in this case, or am I wrong, but you have not just taken from a theme, the name or the themezilla plugin, but also the Pricing Tables which would have been developed by Nector Themes?

I know you will state it does not matter because its still GPL as it started with GPL.

But this is not ethical…

If I purchased one of your themes and hacked at it for code, would you let me sell it on here or would you be the first to complain?
