Would be great to serve up some other people’s compliment sandwiches on this thread too. Get involved.
thought I would start this thread as
a) I love the Envato community and wanted to state why
b) There are things here I don’t like that I would like to see improved
and c) I am hungry so therefore thinking about sandwiches
Now the concept of a compliment sandwich, if you’ve never heard of one, is to provide a negative piece of feedback sandwiched between two good bits of feedback. It’s a nice way to provide constructive criticism whilst also being complimentary.
Anyway, here is mine.
Slice 1 – I am working on a new template and found an awesome piece of audio that has the perfect style for this animation although it was 1 minute too long for my needs. I contacted the author and within the hour we had spoken and are now working on a custom version of the track to suit the timings of my work. How awesome is that!! I can’t imagine being able to have such a plethora of talented people to call on who are so willing to work in collaboration on projects. Well done Envato!!
The filling – still too much imitation on the marketplace. Lots of those build your own whiteboard kits going live at the moment, all with the grey wash marker style and paper cut out aesthetic. Variety people!!! It’s the spice of life and would maybe make this sandwich less sour.
Slice 2 – The London meet up. This was just plain awesome! Great to meet so many people with varying degrees of involvement in the Envato network, be they authors, programmers, tuts+ subscribers or staff. A definite slice of multi seed wholegrain with toasted pumpkin seeds in the crust to finish us off there. Yum!
So there we go, my compliment sandwich. Now I have to go to the deli!!
That’s got to be a monster of a download! Why buy it digitally btw? Is there not more value in owning the physical disc copy so you can sell it on if you don’t like it/when you have completed it?
p.s. not a big gamer atm but will definitely be getting a PS4 in the new year.
I used to create rich media banner ads way back in the day when I started out in the world of professional designing and stuff. From what I recall the banner itself can be created in flash and then the video is called in from an external source and therefore can be larger than the 150kb you suggest. This is done for those flash banners that play movie trailers and the like. Is that what you are trying to achieve?
This is a really flakey answer I know as I can’t recall the platform/s etc. that we worked on but I am sure with a little spot of googling you can find the correct answer.
With the current down turn in the US economy, I would definitely welcome Bitcoin as an acceptable payment for the items within my portfolio.
Just about made it onto the last train home. Awesome night out meeting (not quite) all of you. That’s two uk meet ups in a row and although there was definitely less drubken bowling this time, it was an absolute priviledge and an honour to clink a few bottles with everybody involved.
A huge thank you to all the staff who helped organise this and an extra special thank you to the lovely young lady who gave me an extra tshirt for the wife. Unfortunately I lost mine so if you see a stray designer wandering around looking terrific in a ladies small then don’t be afraid and come say hi.
Fun times, much laughs, big love
On my way into jolly old London Town now. See y’all shortly!
WebFactory saidCareful though, at the kind of time you’d likely be going back to the hotel your only real option might end up being a Taxi, and they don’t come cheap down in London town!
As far as I can tell that’s the rate in London Perhaps something a bit outside of the town would be cheaper.
Night buses will be running and with a little pre-planned research they will save you a big chunk of wedge.
^ Last tube runs at about 12:50 ish I think.
@Motionrevolver – I agree, but I think it’s unfair for Creattive to have their item removed if there are other items on the marketplace that bear more than a striking resemblance to the items they have been – ahem – ‘inspired by’.
