Envato should get rid of 5-star rating system and implement smth like Facebook “like” or Google “+1”. Everything rest(negative moments) should be discussed in comments(which can be also with “negative” mark). That way authors will be informed, why clients are unhappy. IMHO
+1 to that… !
I still think the rating system has merit. It works on iTunes, amazon and trip advisor but it helps that on those platforms you can single out the negative reviews just to see what was wrong (in the customers opinion) with the template.
I think (and I might be wrong) that you can render an alpha channel using the Prores codec in final cut.
If I am right then you could take your 1.8gb file, import into fc and then render a pr version that should be much much smaller.
Let me know if I’m right as I’m curious to know (I don’t have fc on my system).
Just got one on an item that previously had all 5 stars. It makes me so angry because there’s clearly nothing wrong with the file for one thing, and it dropped my average rating down from 4.5 to 4.47 which doesn’t seem like much, but for a single rating, that’s a huge impact on my average…I apologize for posting on such an old thread, but this just made me so angry.
Without a comment to back it up that 1 star rating is useless to any other buyers as well as you the author. It’s a pointless system.
Like anything in life, put in the effort and you will reap the rewards. In other words… Yes.
^ but that’s a good thing right? Clamping down on projects that are similar to others.
If you are searching for a niche topic to blog on then ‘design’ is quite possibly the least niche topic you could have chosen. The web is overflowing with design blogs and if you really want to succeed with it then you need to either choose a different more specific topic or add something the other design blogs don’t.
Try narrowing it down a little to an area of design that you are really into, be that character design, video game design or simply design of magazine headers. Either way, you need to be passionate about it.
If you are just starting out in the world of design then why not blog about that, your progress, your learning, your experiences good or bad but you need to stand out. Try illustrating your progress or adding humour.
Wish you every success!

I can’t find anyone already blogging on this topic…
So Christmas is pretty much on the bus and only two stops away and I have yet to buy a single thing. On the plus side, as I do this every year, there is a nice festive nostalgia to the impending sense of fear, panic and ultimately… shame. Ahhh Christmas.
I am sure I’l pull something out of the bag last minute and everyone will be very happy with their gifts but I just wanted to pick your brains and see what you were buying (if anything) for your nearest and dearest.
p.s. this is totally the right place to show off if you are buying your partner a yacht or a horse or a trip to the Moon or something. Although tbh even if you have just bought a carrot and painted your face on it I will still be jealous that you are more prepared than I.
