With the current down turn in the US economy, I would definitely welcome Bitcoin as an acceptable payment for the items within my portfolio.

Just about made it onto the last train home. Awesome night out meeting (not quite) all of you. That’s two uk meet ups in a row and although there was definitely less drubken bowling this time, it was an absolute priviledge and an honour to clink a few bottles with everybody involved.

A huge thank you to all the staff who helped organise this and an extra special thank you to the lovely young lady who gave me an extra tshirt for the wife. Unfortunately I lost mine so if you see a stray designer wandering around looking terrific in a ladies small then don’t be afraid and come say hi.

Fun times, much laughs, big love

As far as I can tell that’s the rate in London :( Perhaps something a bit outside of the town would be cheaper.
Careful though, at the kind of time you’d likely be going back to the hotel your only real option might end up being a Taxi, and they don’t come cheap down in London town!

Night buses will be running and with a little pre-planned research they will save you a big chunk of wedge.

^ Last tube runs at about 12:50 ish I think.

@Motionrevolver – I agree, but I think it’s unfair for Creattive to have their item removed if there are other items on the marketplace that bear more than a striking resemblance to the items they have been – ahem – ‘inspired by’.

@MotionRevolver – I’m going to disagree but as I said earlier I don’t want the thread to be locked, I am just keen to express an opinion and to have an open debate on the matter.

If you are going to allow an idea and an execution to be copied, and lets face it the majority of the photo in trees projects are copies, fine the tree is different but the idea/concept is the same and visually it is very hard to tell the difference between any of them, then Creattive’s logo should stay on the marketplace.

You can’t have a rule that only applies if the work involved in creating the ‘inspired piece’ is significantly less than creating a much bigger template/pack.

You have to look hard within the marketplace to find items that do have a concept behind them. A lot of the templates here are visual pieces that serve a purpose and have a specific treatment and yes, it is easy to identify when one of those items has been copied. However, the stuff that does have a concept behind it, also has a style and you often find that in the cases where this conceptual item has been copied, the style has ALSO been copied.

I would be completely with you if you were to say that a concept can be taken and developed with a different style (or vice versa) and submitted as a unique piece, however, if you are saying that it is ok to copy an item’s style if it has a concept behind it, then I’m afraid I’m on the other side of the table. :)

Please don’t lock the thread as I am really keen to hear from some of the staff as to where we all stand on issues like this.

It does seem like a massive grey area! As mentioned in other threads, it does quite clearly state in the Envato policy that items similar to or apparently inspired by other items will not be allowed on the marketplace although this does not seem to be the case most of the time.

@Creattive I kinda feel for you dude as you have been the victim of what appears to be a very selective attitude towards duplicate work on the marketplace. But there are always two sides and if @Maupa feels like your work was a copy of his then it is right that your project is removed.

As I say, please don’t lock the thread and if it is possible to have a civilised debate on the matter at hand then we are more likely to keep this open and gather more opinions from other authors, buyers and staff.

All authors should know not copying or “being heavily inspired by” others’ works is not allowed. If a project looks too similar to another pre-existing project, it may cause an issue.

And the photos in trees projects?

Your very words in a thread I started a while back on the subject of duplicate projects…

“Regarding the “trackable photo” projects: this type of project is a concept, not a copyrighted idea. It’s the same thing for the hundreds of extruded logo projects out there. Just because we have one extruded logo project doesn’t mean we don’t accept more of them.”

I am not trying to use that as ammo or start a conflict or anything I just think it would be really useful for everyone on the marketplace to know what the rules were in black and white.

“Please just try to be more careful when you submit to make sure you’re not uploading works that were heavily inspired by other existing files [...] It’s much easier and safe to just stick with completely original work in future”

...so the millions of photo in trees projects will also be removed then?

What exactly can maupa copyright?

My point wasn’t really in answer to that question, I was just trying to get your opinion on what you would do if someone copied your best selling item? (NB: I am not suggesting you copied Maupa’s work)
