The correct approach would have been to decrease the surcharges from $2 to $1, then it would have been understandable that it is included in the buyer fee and as Authors we are not receiving anything extra.
The current approach seems like Envato is taking away some of the extra money author’s used to get. Has Paypal surcharges increased? If so that would also justify the decrease in commission (in absolute terms).
All in all, I think this could have been promoted better. The “balancing” is confusing at best and insulting to intelligence at worst.

All I want to know is, where is the extra $1 from paypal surcharges going? Almost 60% of my sales were through Paypal. The cumulative difference is huge. Are you trying to hide that in all your philosophical mumbo-jumbo?
Envato is getting greedy. You guys keep adding more and more anti-author changes, and soon you’ll find a straw that will break the camel’s back.
It’s not for BS3.0. The theme was already BS3.0 and the Version2.0 was released long time ago. Anyways I am just going to ignore this. This is nothing personal with the author.
16 days. I wouldn’t have been as annoyed as I am now if I got some reply from Support. Envato takes HALF of my earnings, literally thousands of dollars, right before holidays, on the work I did, and I can’t even get a reply on a support ticket on what happened to my money?
