Yes – there should not be ANY requirement to specify a browser version from the authors side. If you think about it, there are just so many versions of browsers it’s hard enough for you guys to keep up, let alone authors.

When somebody buys a template they should test the site in their own browsers. This was a good feature a few years ago but in today’s world, technology is advancing so fast that everything gets obsolete quickly.

Someone mentioned that his theme got pirated with only 3 sales. So one of those 3 is a pirate, with a bit of research Envato can figure out who it is and ban his account.

Now, listen up before you say “Well he’s just gonna make a new account”. Envato has info about his method of payment (paypal, moneybookers, credit card) so we can find out who he is.

First offence

Ban his account and his paypal/moneybookers/credit card so he can’t deposit any money, so he can’t purchase anything.

Second offence

If he decides to do it again (i don’t think he will thou) and we catch him (won’t be hard knowing all his info from the previous offence) we sue him, we’ll have enough evidence, he’ll go to jail. Again, i don’t think it will come to this, noone wants to go to jail for pirating $50 WordPress themes.

I know he’s not the only one, but maybe he’s one of the bigger pirates, even if not i’m sure we can stop them all eventually. Get one of them, let everyone know we got him and a lot of the other’s will s**t their pants and reconsider.

And i have another little idea but it’s not for a public forum, we’ll talk about it more privately if possible.

As far as I am aware you don’t need an account here. Also, these people might use a fake account (just registered). Also, what about hacked accounts? Too many things to think about for this to work.

Typography needs work. No typo page either.

Okay something isn’t right here – you join the list of now 8, yes 8 different threads (including this one) complaining about the same issue.

This needs to be looked into as a matter of urgency and a resolution, such as a dedicated abuse team who are able to deal with all abuse claims within 24 hours, as clearly, support is failing at this area.

Note to mods: oh I do wish you were as quick to remove the files as quickly as you removed my link there.

I can’t promise anything at this stage, but here’s where we’d like to head:

The work you guys have seen a few fragments of is toward vastly improving and simplifying the process of becoming an author. Part of that goal is making things like author dashboard available to all users — if you’re an author, it’ll work mostly like it used to (for now). If you’re not an author, it can help you become one.

This means the dashboard UI has to deal with a few more states and variations than it used to. Authors see an upload box, but others will see a different box, with varying height content. We tried that all in one place in the UI (shifting it to the left column above the comments), but we’ll explore alternatives for sure.

This work got interrupted in a weird spot (hence no promises), but I’d like to get back to it soon. There’s a broader vision of the dashboard, but I’m only just starting to research this and talk to authors, so it’s way way way too early to go into details.

Expect a Notes post in the next day or two from me on our current focus.

You make that sound difficult – as developers you should be able to get that done in a few hours. Sadly my optimism about getting some real much needed features implemented has just died.

Not going to happen for another few years yet. Developers too busy trying to figure where that button should go

I’ve reported many an item for copyright reasons. I think this should lie with the reviewers as they should ensure it isn’t a rip (and sometimes it’s so obvious it’s laughable it gets passed). I think envato should ‘hold’ items for 2-3 days before public sale to check this type of thing.

I feel this will be yet another huge thread were staff will eventually come along and reply. We’re just playing cat and mouse with envato.

I’ll rip yootheme’s subway (to make something similar) and make a responsive design myself. Hope i don’t have to buy their template for that since i’m making it responsive and also wont be using joomla. I need it to be shown to the client in 2 days time. Wish there’s an out of the box and not do everything myself :/
