Please do not use ioncube, I as a user (buyer), want to purchase -> put on localhost -> run.

That’s it. We should NOT have to do ANYTHING else to get it to work. No downloading, no installing other mods etc. Just buy and run.

There is nothing we can do about this – if there was, software such as vBulletin would of done it by now ;)

Honestly, you can’t stop it. You are selling code. Now, you’re on the internet, you can not expect it not to be stolen. People who believe or are “shocked” by their items being stolen are damn right foolish. It takes less the 30 seconds to buy a file, download it, and upload it and distribute it across the world. Look at Microsoft – their products get stolen all the time – yet people still pay for them.

No api will stop it, unless you’re allowed to encode the script, people will “null” it – I.E remove callbacks etc.

I am dead against any license keys, it’s stupid and pointless, as a user, I want to buy -> use, not faf around with some stupid license key – that is even easier to share!

If you want a method of not getting your scripts stolen – encode your demos, and just hope for the best. People who want to steal your scripts will do it not matter what protection you have.

while I won’t encourage warez, just look at some of the major forum scripts – they have been “nulled” but that doesn’t stop people from stealing them.

Piracy will always happen. Fact.

It seems like net.tuts+ have mac “fanboys”, what’s with all the Mac based posts, yes, we all know Mac is superior to windows bla bla bla.

Seriously though, I’ve seen article after article based on macs, and as a windows user, I feel it shuts part of the site for me.

Is it possible that every single mac article ALSO has a windows based one, it really is important to keep your audience as open as possible right? And for me, it seems like you’re going for the mac “fanboys”

Examples:

http://net.tutsplus.com/articles/web-roundups/10-terminal-commands-that-will-boost-your-productivity/

http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/html-css-techniques/quick-tip-getting-offline-access-with-html5-application-cache/ – he uses a Mac therefore the article is most likely good, but Windows can’t learn keyboard shortcuts etc.

Hello, I am very disappointed with the results of the recent html5 competition.

The reasons why is because the competition was unfair and not clear, you guys picked html5 applications to win, all the winners built great applications, however, I didn’t know that’s what you guys were looking for.

Lets take a look at the pointless Dweamer:

It’s useless, unless I am mistaken, it does not, not 1% help users with coding, it simple enhances dreamweaver, something that not a lot of people have – useless.

I thought you were looking for applications that helped users code or whatever, I didn’t know this was allowed :P

I am sorry, but I am out of ALL future competitions of net.tuts+ unless they give users a choice. Fancy giving $7000 of prizes to something that DOES NOT help you code…....

Overall, you must give us the choice to vote, otherwise, these competitions are useless.

This web page at codecanyon.net has been reported as an attack page and has been blocked based on your security preferences.

And the live preview system is mucked up!

Have the hackers been about?

That’s where it says it’s an attack page, or at least Firefox does..:P

Well, recently, on codecanyon, I have seen a item called “Infinite pages”, and I was thinking and I thought it was a really good idea, and I started thinking of what more we could do:

If you have a long page (of text for example), when you load the page up, you can see some of the text, however, the rest of it is hidden below, which we can’t see (unless we scroll down). So my idea was, why do we need to load something we may never see? If we don’t scroll down, then everything that was loaded is now wasted.

My idea was (and I’d love someone to create it), why not load the page, but only load what we see, so, if we scroll down the page, everything we no longer see (I.E the top half of the page), now disappears.

Example:

When we land to the page we see:

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

As we scroll down the page, that text above now disappears (we can’t see it without scrolling back up), and that would disappear, so we only actually load what we want to see.

I think (In My Opinion), it’s a great idea because we don’t load the whole page, we only load what we want.

What do you guys see?

It is indeed a low price for the several hours you have put into it. However, you’re missing the big picture:

Most advanced authors, with hundreds of sales each day, ask the reviewers to lower their items’ prices – as crazy as that might sound for you right now. And why? Because lower-priced items sell like cupcakes.

Eventhough you’ve spent a great amount of time into a product, if they price something (talking about GR) at $8, trust me, you will have less to none sales.

I hope you can get a better idea regarding the pricing-system, and how lower-prices will actually benefit your long-term sales.

Yeah, that’s true, but for us “newbie” members, or even if we worked months and months, we still (at the end of the day), don’t get to even have an influence on the price, you have to look at it:

Do you sell your item here exclusively and hope it gets a good price tag and hope it sells.

Or do you choose non-exclusive and put it on your own website, where you can make much more.

Its nice being able to submit your on work, but your work which is being priced at such a low cost…..

....Imagine making a art masterpiece, you go to someone, and they say you can get $100, however, they take some money for themselves, so your looking at £70 maybe, (these are just made up), and then if you go to somewhere else, you could get a lot lot more, so while this is a nice set of marketplaces, I do think envato is being somewhat greedy in terms of pricing and I still do believe we SHOULD be able to have an influence on the price (like in the comment box, say how much you think it should be, or even have a different box altogether)

As I said, what 1 reviewer may see as $8, another could see as $15…....

Right, as far as I can see, I have been poking around the Envato marketplace(s), and I have seen far too many items on here for very little cost, and I think this does have to change.

The way I see it:

Us authors put in lots and lots of hard work creating items.

We send it to review and it might or might not get accepted.

Reviewer puts a price tag….!!!!

Since when has that been fair, I mean, lets say we had 2 reviewers, they won’t have the exact same price, so it really depends who you get.

As authors, we are Envatos main source of money, therefore, we should have a say in the pricing of our items (I don’t understand why we can’t choose our own prices anyway, or at least have an influence).

please can somebody explain?
