@GoliathDesign I started my post with “Thanks for your feedback.” and I meant it. I was never rude or impolite, nor did I say your feedback was crap
I want to say thank you for taking the time to provide feedback.
What I meant (could have made more clear maybe) was that YOUR feedback is in large part totally opposite of feedback I got from other ThemeForest designers and the reviewers:
- To show that a specific section is active, remove the overline, make the active section thicker (font-weight)
I added this line after feedback that my menu was to boring
- Generally, make all the navigation sections smaller, the font size is too large
My orginal nav was smaller and “needs to be more prominent” according to the reviewer
- For your main features, I’d use some icons instead
I was using Font Awesome icons and they were deemed flat and boring
My point was that your opinions are totally the opposite of other feedback that I got and therefore it is kind of hard to tweak a design for ThemeForest as there are no real guidelines to show what they deem to be good design…
And of course it is frustrating to have something that you worked really hard on for months (that has really good technical details and back-end) getting reject because of really unclear design feedback. The huge amount of topics with similar discussions reflect this.
Finally @LoveThemes was rude and impolite from the start speaking to me as if I am a 15 year old child. I see no reason to look at his feedback to be relevant or good in any way. I am successful for over 4 year now as a freelance designer/developer and really don’t need rude feedback like this.
Again thanks for your feedback and taking the time.
Thanks for your feedback.
I find it funny that almost all of your points were in the previous version that was also rejected!
Cleaner nav, larger headers, accent color, icons they were there and after feedback removed…
All these suggestions are totally random opinions about design and I am really thinking that getting a item accepted at ThemeForest is about getting lucky that the reviewer likes you specific design…
There are no guides about the design and rejections are vague like ‘feels unfinished’
I might not even try anymore ThemeForest makes this all way to frustrating and I know for a fact that they do not even test the extensive back-end settings, it is all about getting a design that matches the options of what ThemeForest thinks is good design.
No sure, I designed and build a theme I hate and really do not like…... Of course I would buy it!
The design feels cheap, looks completely unfinished and very amateurish throughout.
Thanks for the brutal honest opinion i guess? Any specific reasons you hate it so much?
This is not really useful feedback at all and I am not sure why you would post it….
(and yes it is soft rejected)
My CORPO theme for MODX got soft rejected after a big update
I made a lot of improvements and changes after feedback that I got here (thanks to all for that).
But unfortunately I got soft rejected this time and am a bit at a loss on how to improve.
Concept for the theme
The name is ‘CORPO’ as in corporate. Since I do not see any business/corporate themes yet for MODX Revolution, I wanted to create a clean, minimal and easy to use theme that has most features that a business site will need:
- Homepage with slider
- CTA area’s
- Quotes slider
- Image gallery with retina support
- Contact form
- Google map
- One page sticky sub nav
- SEO optimized with integrated Analytics an sitemap
I feel like the theme has a lot of features and a great MODX back-end setup, but ThemeForest does not seem to like the design style…
Inspiration for the theme
I looked at some corporate best sellers like:
I wanted a white clean background with some options to change the colors of sections (these are included) and added some Google font options to choose from.
Here is the feedback I got:This looks uninviting, plain and unfinished No focus, plain, uninviting weak visual hierarchy. Generic, plain, looks unfinished
Of course design is quite subjective but I am not sure I see why may theme is considered to be so generic & plain…
How would you improve my design to make it lot be “Generic & plain”?
Any help is greatly apreciated.
That is great and usefull feedback, will implement a lot in a new version for sure.
I totally understand that my design might need some work, it is just frustrating to get hard rejected without more clear reasons.
Over 3 months work, using the latest technologies like Gulp, SASS, Bourbon and jQuery.
Custom fields, page settings, color settings, em based typography, responsive, sticky nav, search, blog, sub pages, responsive slider, quotes slider, social media links, SEO options and a huge amount of MODX customization (none of the other MODX themes have this)
Hard reject…. I am amazed and really need to know why…
