I’m a new seller (first sale happened yesterday) and reading about this rule which allows Envato to disable my items without informing me of it is terribly discouraging.
I’m an old author here and I think I can speak for other old authors don’t get discouraged yet. This is a great place overall,
there are some issues, nothing is perfect, but with a bit of a fight and love we will fix them. But is always because we want a better marketplace.
About that rule, don’t forget that there are people who may try to scam the marketplace, maybe by stealing other authors work and trying to sell them. If such an user is found is no point for envato to invest time explaining him when is absolutely obvious he is a thief. Also as the staff said they inform the authors, our main problem is that sometimes they inform the author after the item had been soft disabled and not before. Is what we’ve asked to be improved. Anyway that’s another story, is about soft disabled files not removed files
I agree and agree,
Don’t get discouraged, but help improving.
At the end, Envato is one of the best around…. (but….I hope they improve the previous discussed)
Happy that there are “thoughts” around to protect “better”.
I personally get sick of “great Buy’s” which suddenly aren’t downloadable anymore…
With other words: Regards the “responsibility” of the buyers, you should DIRECTLY download the purchased item(s).. Which would make sense, if I have to manage from that moment on every update, every day, every purchased item (x 20+ items bought = a half day job downloading, organizing, ftp’en etc.)
So, doesnt make sense..
READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS… you can ask for a refund, IF, you have never downloaded the purchased item…
So don’t download till you need it… Check every day just the “revoked” purchases… (ask your money back from Envato if a purchased item is revoked) and than…
CHECK The awesome new Envato release’s!!!
At the end, i am complaining because there are tons of good stuff for sale here…
It just could get a little bit better organized/communicated… to protect our enthusiastic (sometimes just a “first time” buy to support a good author/idea) purchased items and invested money
Maybe an option for Envato to develop a “SafeBox” to offer a Guaranteed” last download link, KNOWINGLY that the purchased item is available: working or not – on responsibility of the buyer! This only works with serious broken software.
In case of copyright claims: Envato should reimburse all purchased items with copy claim. And legally get their money back from “author” (copycat) Forcing the buyer to do the same in the terms.
hope that things will change for the better…
thumbs up for all the great authors and developers!
