I don’t think we need an answer from Envato, as many have posted evidence of how the law explains VAT for marketplaces and that for Envato’s model it’s clear they are the sellers. If there are any issues down the line for authors with authorities, we’d be covered in my opinion – which is why I think so many of the big earners here are relatively quiet on the matter, as they’ve already consulted their advisers and feel confident with their position.
VAT is ok, but still wondering how the US author’s earnings going to be reported for tax purposes (that 80% earnings report). Not sure if that approach is limited only to US authors in the future..
Also noticed that the Envato “Support” is now renamed to “Envato Help”. Of course we no need to worry about anything until govt knocks the door of individual author, but the collective changes made recently (including Mandatory support proposal – that was HUGE) points authors are lacking to realize something? I mean even if it is harmless, we should better aware what is exactly changing.
Something like this which i bought for my nephew:
Baba ji patri pesumbodhu jaakkiradai.. saabam keebam kodutthu viduvaar…
@theemon, I think no one can suggest or help if complications arise in the future – by following any method. For example, if your partner located in a country where the financial govt wants detailed documents about transactions (data of every sale etc) then you may want to handle the who issue by yourself. So obviously it is upto you to select a method based on yourself and partner’s side of possibilities.
