duotive, I have to agree with you…

my friend tried to submit a minimalist theme with less options, I saw the design and it looks good for me and I think it is qualified for TF and also with solid code… but, yes, of course, he got this rejection message from our lovely reviewer… :bigevilgrin:

I know it’s frustrating to be rejected citing uniqueness but recently, we’ve gotten a large number of template with the same overall features and presentation and we have to draw the line somewhere.

Overall, it has a good starting concept and it seems you’ve aimed for simplicity, but the overall design lacks details in its design that would help it stand out as more unique. At this point, you’ll need to improve the design and make it more unique before it will be ready for ThemeForest

I think we’re reached a point of saturation. At this point, we’re only looking for unique variations of this design: for another one to be approved it would have to have a couple of unique touches and features that differentiate it from what’s already available and definitely be of higher quality.

My personal conclusion: It is not easy to submit minimalist theme with less options now... :p

Note: MOD , feel free to remove this comment when you think that my comment is not appropriate… ;)

Hello ace, how are you? ;)

For example, I open the source code of your Portfolio page from my Firefox browser,

http://www.bluesquidmedia.com/portfolio/

and I saw this code for body tag,

<body class="page page-id-32 page-template page-template-template-portfolio-php gecko">
</body>

you can see page-id-32 body class here… ;)

so, go to Appearance > Editor and edit your style.css and add this code (for example)

body.page-id-32 {
     background: #000020 url("http://www.bluesquidmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/bg3.jpg") no-repeat scroll center 0;
}

You can repeat this process for certain pages in your website… ;)

dear hiox, it is a community forum, and it is not support forum.

please post your support questions at the item’s comments section directly to get support from theme author.

thanks

This is our standard answer.

In ThemeForest system, theme author doesn’t have any control with payments and refund requests, please contact ThemeForest support directly http://themeforest.net/support to request a refund. Thanks ;)

Note: We only got 3 refund requests for > 3000 sales.

Another possible solution could be that I can start my own template shop, where I can decide the price, I don’t have to share my income with anybody. Further more, if more authors are interested, I could support them selling their work and maybe creating partnerships in running a free market and not politically driven closed (communist) market.

For your information, a WP guy started a project called ThemeGard** one year ago with your idea above in mind. It is a “free” marketplace where you can sumbit your theme, you can set the price, and buyer can pay 100% directly to your Paypal account. I was also one of author there.

Is it good for me? No, because I still have to promote my theme to get more traffics, and the worst part, I have to deal with some crazy buyers that request refund directly to Paypal without any confirmation to me. Then I decide to quit and focus on ThemeForest.

The fact, this “free” marketplace is closed now and “will be back soon”... ;)

THEMEFOREST WINS !!! Cheap products but top quality… I don’t need to work more to get traffics, i don’t need to deal with “refund” or any complicated system. I only need to create top notch items and provide theme supports. And Envato will pay me every month…

Just my two cents… ;)

When we apply to be a ThemeForest author, we get this question on our author quiz,

Who decides how files are priced?

A. The ThemeForest staff
B. The author
C. The buyers
D. Files are priced automatically based on category

If we choose B, then we will never be an exclusive author here… FAILED !

When we choose A, it means that we agree with ThemeForest rules…

One of our themes got $35 price tag. And we can reach Envato Elite with only this one theme… We keep adding new features but we don’t want to increase the price now, because we do agree with epicera words above, “less price, more sales

Just my two cents… ;)
