Another possible solution could be that I can start my own template shop, where I can decide the price, I don’t have to share my income with anybody. Further more, if more authors are interested, I could support them selling their work and maybe creating partnerships in running a free market and not politically driven closed (communist) market.

For your information, a WP guy started a project called ThemeGard** one year ago with your idea above in mind. It is a “free” marketplace where you can sumbit your theme, you can set the price, and buyer can pay 100% directly to your Paypal account. I was also one of author there.

Is it good for me? No, because I still have to promote my theme to get more traffics, and the worst part, I have to deal with some crazy buyers that request refund directly to Paypal without any confirmation to me. Then I decide to quit and focus on ThemeForest.

The fact, this “free” marketplace is closed now and “will be back soon”... ;)

THEMEFOREST WINS !!! Cheap products but top quality… I don’t need to work more to get traffics, i don’t need to deal with “refund” or any complicated system. I only need to create top notch items and provide theme supports. And Envato will pay me every month…

Just my two cents… ;)

When we apply to be a ThemeForest author, we get this question on our author quiz,

Who decides how files are priced?

A. The ThemeForest staff
B. The author
C. The buyers
D. Files are priced automatically based on category

If we choose B, then we will never be an exclusive author here… FAILED !

When we choose A, it means that we agree with ThemeForest rules…

One of our themes got $35 price tag. And we can reach Envato Elite with only this one theme… We keep adding new features but we don’t want to increase the price now, because we do agree with epicera words above, “less price, more sales

Just my two cents… ;)

You will have to wait a few months till LR2 hits Windows, though.

Usually, I open Notepad++ in one window, and open a browser in other window. I edit the code in Notepad++ and then refresh the browser… :bigevilgrin:

What about this firefox addon? I never use it…

It really only takes 2 weeks to design, code, and get accepted. Just ask Landon.
If I knew you well I’d send you proof, but I don’t so I won’t. It’s a shame people always shoot people down who actually work hard to achieve their goals.

So, when will you release your first theme? are you back to your first plan in January 2012? Can’t wait to see it… ;)

I’m using SWIFT and I pay an additional fee for the international transfert but it wouldn’t be the case for you I guess if you have a US account. I’m really happy with that, it’s fast, reliable and always on time. I’m a paypal hater so I’m not really objective :)

+1, for non USA person like us here, paypal is not good when you try to transfer thousands USD from Envato to our paypal account… SWIFT works well for us… ;)

I think you don’t understand me.

wp_enqueue_script() should be called using a WP action hook. Don’t add it directly to your header.php

for example, you can add this code to your functions.php :

add_action( 'get_header', 'my_custom_script');
function my_custom_script() {
    wp_enqueue_script('custom', get_stylesheet_directory_uri().'/js/custom.js', array('jquery'), '0.1', true);
}

There were some suggestions from buyers and authors to change “Retail” category name to “eCommerce” to make it clear for buyers and get more exposures (and sales) for authors…

But now, I can see both Retail and eCommerce under Wordpress category. What is the meaning of this?!?

Any explanation from Envato?

Hmmm…

is there any particular reason you want to do this?

it is for onpage SEO . Some SEO gurus recommend to use H1 for post/page title in single post page.

@Raj_r, you need to change some codes in header.php (your blog/web header) and single.php (single post), and style.css (to make it looks perfect). it is better to contact the theme author directly to discuss and ask small help. ;)
