I thought it is a best practice to have only one searchbox on a page/section – there are 2 search boxes on the homepage (the smaller header one and the huge one in the banner area). That’s confusing, don’t you think?

Agreed, both search boxes have the same functionality so they’re just duplicates. The smaller one has limited space for filters, so since we now have a giant search bar, we could have better filtering.

If we type the word “psd” or “photoshop” only.. and we sort the results by sales we get top selling WordPress and HTML themes.. but what if the user was specifically looking for psd or photoshop files?

\\
Yes it seems like an obvious logical way to search, but why it has not been implemented yet?

Maybe Envato wants buyers to filter after the initial search? If we think about this approach it does potentially showcase more unique items up in search, cause well, depending on how deep we want to search we can still do it if we are not happy with the results, so the giant search bar with no filters makes every buyer only scratch the surface lightly, engaging the general search first, with an option to dig deeper.

This does specifically apply to Audiojungle, so Im sorry for that.. why you may ask.

Im happy with search at the moment, cause unlike web themes, where you have something thats either black or white, eCommerce or a wedding theme, music genres bleed into each other and it is sometimes difficult, even for authors themselves to classify their products with justified precision. Something is pop, but not exactly rock, but who cares.. “maybe I’ll have that one actually”. – Are the words that I want to hear the most. And the general search for AJ like I described already works for us best. Lets not forget that in the end it is in fact a jungle. :)

Hey guys,

Thanks for your great feedback

Just in case you weren’t aware, there’s actually an ongoing project around the ratings system that serves to identify the main issues, and look at how we can improve it for everyone.

More info as and when

Christian

Thanks for the link..

Hi, is there a chance of implementing expiry date on stars we sometimes get for our items?

We all know at least one author who was strategically low rated with 1 star, or rated with 1 star by mistake or rated with 3, 4 stars which were fair cause the item was actually lacking in quality.

What I want to say is this.

There is a learning curve and most of us here strive for perfection. At some point we make it but unfortunately the stigmas of the past remain, even though the author successfully managed to dot all the i’s and cross all the t’s.

If we are to flourish, grow and prosper, we need to be able to let go of the past if its holding us back, so after a certain amount of time please allow us to either remove the stars for particular item or keep them.
