Hi everyone,

I’ve got 2 questions about the use of preview items in demo websites on ThemeForest.

1. In the Regular License on PhotoDune I’ve found this:
You can’t use an Item in a digital format at a resolution greater than 1200×800 pixels, unless the Item is incorporated into a digital product (like a website design) such that the Item can’t be extracted.

Is it allowed to use a photo as a background in a slider (with other elements)? Because I’m not quite sure what is meant by the lines “unless the item is incorporated” and “can’t be extracted”.

2. In the GraphicRiver licenses I haven’t found anything about a maximum resolution (like the 1200×800 rule on PhotoDune). Am I allowed to scale the items to any size?

Thanks in advance! :)

Just a question: Why do you want to have the same website as your competitor? I think a good company should have an unique website which stands out from the crowd.

Hi everyone,

On a lot of demo websites on TF I see that authors are displaying multiple blog layouts (sidebar left, sidebar right, full width, etc). But how can this be achieved? Are they all using different blog templates (template-blog-1.php, etc) and just assign them to pages?

The reason I’m asking this: At the moment I’m trying to set up my demo website for a theme, and I have 2 blog layouts. But the user can choose the layout in the Theme Options and has to select the blog as “Static Page” in the WP Settings. So I think for me it’s not possible to display the 2 layouts?

And what if you purchase the extended license? Is it then allowed to use the items at a greater resolution? Because I would like to use them in the slider of my theme (1800×700).

2. The WordPress theme should make use of the following inbuilt functions to validate or santize content on input or escape any questionable content for put. http://codex.wordpress.org/Data_Validation
My theme is soft rejected, and this is the message I’ve received from the reviewer. But I don’t have any idea what to fix. Does somebody has an example of what is wrong and what is the correct way? I would really appreciate it!

Example:

wrong:
$postmeta = $_POST['fieldname'];
update_post_meta( $post->ID, 'fieldkey', 'fieldname' );
correct:
$postmeta = sanitize_text_field( $_POST['fieldname'] );
update_post_meta( $post->ID, 'fieldkey', 'fieldname' );
That’s just an example, actual function depends on the type of data you are expecting.

Ok, thanks for the example. Do I also have to validate all the content from my theme options panel and meta boxes itself?

Example:
$tagline = get_post_meta($post->ID, 'meta_tagline', true);
echo $tagline;
Should this be something like this:
echo esc_html($tagline);
?? Or isn’t this required?

I was wondering: On ThemeForest there are a lot of WordPress themes with jPlayer included to play video and audio files.

But WordPress 3.6 will have native support for video and audio files. How do you authors, which are using jPlayer, are going to handle this? Are you going to use the built-in player or do you keep using jPlayer? Because it will be a lot of work to update all the themes (code, skins).

@bosrivis In a topic I posted and requested inspiration websites,one of them had this website included … Aren’t they made for that?

There’s a huge difference between inspiration and making an exact copy of a website.

Yes, it’s definitely worth continuing the template. The template looks awesome! It will get a lot of sales on TF! It’s so unique!!!
