I have just seen Kriesi’s demo, and this “template creator” feature looks incredible.
What’s also incredible is this marketplace, it so competitive that every theme author is looking to add more and more features to his themes. I am completely amazed by the progress that Themeforest themes had in the past 1/2 years.
We should create a kind of theme authors association, and unify development criteria. That way, we would all code in a similar manner, buyers will feel comfortable when changing from an author to another, and we would be able to focus more on creating unique designs.
I am afraid that you bought a HTML template, and now you are trying to install it in Wordpress
I also passed 1000 sales today
btw, I just sent you a PM
You are right, that’s an annoying thing. When I have to write some code like that, I usually tell the buyers to send me a message from my profile page so I can send them the code in an email.
Maybe some articles like “How to use Wordpress featured images”, even “How to install Wordpress and themes”. Eventually, it would be a good idea to include more advanced stuff, like “How to use custom fields”.
Something that we can link our buyers when they have problems with the usage of Wordpress.
As contempoinc said, http://www.wp101.com/ has some nice screencasts, but they are not free.
I would also be happy to contribute if you need help.
Just wanted to share this idea that I thought with all of you. I was reading Nettuts+, and noticed that there should be more Wordpress stuff there, covering the basics and new features.
Envato should create a WPTuts+ website, with Wordpress tutorials, so our buyers can read it, learn the basics (and also some advanced stuff) of Wordpress and use our themes properly.
I think it would be a great way to reduce the support requests that we receive, about problems that are caused by incompetence using Wordpress.
Furthermore, this blog would generate a lot of promotion for our themes.
Just an idea, what do you think about it?
If you have more questions about the theme, please ask them in the theme’s page, so we can see it instantly.
The problem here is that you are uploading the .zip file that you downloaded from Themeforest. You have to unzip that file first, and you will see a bunch of folders and files. One of those files is called “celtabusiness.zip”. That’s the file you have to upload.
