If for example you were to develop a theme layout solely made from CSS3 and html etc.. without the use of images, would this load quicker?
yes it would load a lot quicker, but it all depends on data size less data = faster response, if you looking to load faster try seeing if you host has gzip support
I’m currently converting a theme that users Rockwell for headings to html/css. I’ve searched around to find if I can use Rockwell with things such as Cufon and font-face but had no luck. I’d imagine its a no, but then I see sites like this that do so.
Can anyone confirm on this?My backup would be to have a font stack with Rockwell first, and use font-face to give a decent fall-back, like Museo Slab since that’s the closest free font I can find to Rockwell. Is this the best alternative?
rockwell is a Microsoft font you should find all the info here I think that’ll tell you every thing you need
I think a lot have options that change the layout of the homepage (turning certain elements on and off) rather than having actual preset layouts to switch between. I’m sure plenty do it this way too though, maybe one day when I can afford to buy some I’ll find out
yes something like
<?php get_header(); ?> <div class="colum-1"> <?php include(TEMPLATEPATH . '/includes/slider.php'); ?> <?php $layout = get_option('obm_layout'); include('layouts/'.$layout); ?> </div><!--/colum-1--> <?php get_sidebar(); ?> <?php get_footer(); ?>
you can just use the option on the admin side to control as many layouts as you want the sliders just there from a project its un-needed
I’m helping a mate of mine start a business. It’s an online fishing review, report and tackle shop. The sites main objective will be to deliver fishing reports, latest tackle/gear reviews, weekly fishing videos, and then a webstore, where the latest rods and gear will be sold.
I began developing the site in Magento as it was originally going to be just a webstore. But my friend changed his mind, and decided to focus more on reviews, fishing reports and videos – much like a blog or a news site – I feel that Magento is great for ecommerce solutions but not for a news/reviews site.
Im wondering which CMS will be best suited for this purpose?? Maybe Joomla/Virtuemart? What about Wordpress? I would love to hear your opinions.Cheers, John
I think wordpress would suit this type of site well maybe with WP e-commerce plugin to suit the store
Hey everyone, I’m back. I posted here a while back asking about my shared server from godaddy as someone .htaccess files were being uploaded with url rewrites causing my 404 pages to go to malware websites. At this time I do not want to switch hosting providers but I was wondering if there is a way to stop these files from being uploaded to my server. If anyone can help me with this issue, please help. Thanks so much!
what are your permissions set at?
yes I know what you mean it would look better if I could get it to scale and rotate at the same time, still working on the best solution to do that without making it render poorly on the ipadThe whole thing looks pretty good actually, it just looks a bit weird, at least to me. It somewhat looks elastic, if you know what I mean.They are very flat. It’s lacking perspective.you’ve got to remember this is done in pure CSS adding a drop shadow instead of the container will give more depth
