I also didn’t look at your portfolio to see you are offering PDF and Word.
It was a theortical statement.

“If a seller on GR only produces an InDesign document I don’t think it’s good for his sales.”
As I said, I’m just talking out of my own expercience. I 4 years of selling here I was asked once for InDesign.
I have a dayjob where amongst other things I take care of the print designs for our company. I do it all in InDesign because it’s the right tool to use.
I don’t think my customers here are InDesign savvy, so I offer them formats they can use. To me that makes sense.
I will however run a test and add an InDesign version to my next item. If you are right and I sell twice as many brochures as I did on my current Photoshop items I’m happy to admit my mistake and invite you for a beer
I totally agree with most comments that don’t recommend the use of Photoshop. Photoshop is a pixel based software, good for photo editing not for text and even worse to handle pages. Here is why you should use Indesign over Photoshop based on what has already been said and my own experience: - Indesign is vector based therefore the file will be LIGHTWEIGHT and SCALABLE without loss of quality. With Photoshop your file is going to be crazy large. - ID was made for creating magazine, brochure, books,... anything from 1 page to large amount of page making the life of designers much much easier, to say the least. - Photoshop is just not fit for this task and as someone said, your sales are going to be terrible. And that’s understandable because Photoshop just doesn’t have the right tools to build a magazine, or annual report in your case.
The bottom line is: learn Indesign! Honestly once you know how to use it, you’ll love it, it is so smooth, easy to use and time saving thanks to specific tools such as image placement, page masters, text editing and so on. Using Photoshop is going to be such a hassle, you’re gonna pull your hair off your head because Photoshop will not do the job properly.Again, this is a short pros/cons and my own opinion based on my experience. Creating anything printed like a brochure, magazine, proposal or anything like it on Photoshop is UNPROFESSIONAL. Period.
Agreed on everything BUT your point on sales. I think it’s the contrary. InDesigns is as you state for Pros. Only Pros can use it. The majority of ( my ) customers are not Pros. They don’t use InDesign. They only know how to use Photoshop.
I’ve had more requests from customers asking got Word or PDF variations of my files than InDesign. In fact I think I’ve only been asked once for an InDesign version.
So you mat produce a superior document. But if your customers can’t use it that’s only good for your pride, not your sales.
Best option always is: offer as many formats as possible, then your customer can choose.
Not ideal for print and also not a program designed to handle multiple pages. But some buyers will only have photoshop knowledge so will want a photoshop template. I’ve had quite a few people ask for a photoshop version of a magazine template.
That is the point. You can do Photoshop and have an additional InDesign file for better print quality. But you can’t do InDesign and no Photoshop conversion. Your sales will be much lower. Only Pros know how to use InDesign.
I’m not sure what the band minimum is, but my argument is always: offer as much as you can.
So why the bare minimum may be EPS 10 and one variation, why don’t you offer many different file types and many different variations?
Always try to make it as easy as possible for your end customer to use the items.

there’s problem on balance, the circle is far too big for the shape it contains. Also it’s very simplistic.
Then the typography doesn’t go with it at all. Looks to be like some sort of science-fiction font. Not the right choice for culinary item.
The entire bottom half of the flyer is empty. While whitespace is good, to me it just looks empty, there’s something missing.
At the bottom the numbers in the circles are not aligned correctly, so it lacks polish. 2 pm, $15, apart from not being aligned correctly also have no breathing room whatsoever.
The typography at the very top, a three promo and 21+ seems off.
Personally I think this needs work.
@Nico: the problem is not you or your items. The problem is simply too many items. And I’m not saying that because I think they’re all rubbish. I’m, saying that out of s purely selfish observation: if I were the only one selling here I’d make a fortune
But there are more and more authors and more and more items ( good and bad ) so you will make less and less sales. It’0s pure math.
I predicted 3 years or so ago that in 5 years time ( from then ) none of us ( the regulars at the time ) would be making any sales. The curve is deifinitely going in that direction now, 3 years later.
Also of that “us” there are very few left. Most good authors use GR as a springboard as they soon realise that your compensation never matches your effort.
You could however argue that GR can be quite a successful springboard to other more lucrative contracts – so in the end it may just work out
This is a customer complaining to their credit card company that a purchase was fraudulent. The credit card company then reverses the charges and they are also automatically reversed from you.
Basically you’ve been robbed.
This is a common trick: buy something online with your credit card, then complain to your credit card company. Because of all the claims your credit card company will just refund you the money rather than going through lengthy settlement processes.
It’s just another form of piracy we have to live with. It happens from time to time too many of us.
