Copying another GR author’s work is just pathetic – bad enough if you copy at all.

I think all profits from a proven copied file should go directly to the author of the original – if they’re still stored as market credits of course.

Worst of all: none of this is responsive. GR is a really simple grid layout, I can’t believe that in 2014 the thing is still fixed width for desktop monitors – when on TF every single template is fully respnsive, and has been for the last 3 years … quite poor!

This should be in the item discussion, not on the general board.

Don’t do italics, doesn’t fit here.

Maybe it’s a little overcomplicated. It’s cool, but it¡s also a lot of work to look at. All the shadows and different shapes laying on top of each other. I’d keep the shape but simplify it.

You can just place a grey square with the word “your image here” written on it.

Alternatively you can use photos/images 100% created by you and 100% consent of any people in those images for you to use them.

Or you can get 100% royalty free and resale license images.

I would argue that 99% of all items on Graphic River will have image placeholders like my first suggestion.

Your best bet on a clear answer is always to get in touch with the reviewer and ask for feedback.

I could see those items needing some improvements, but on the other hand I also see a lot of rubbish accepted. So until you get actual feedback it’s kind of hard to tell these days.

That is the page we all know, I wonder if this is still the case though. I think this page hasn’t been updated in over three years – two people actually still do glossy navigations? :D

They thought it looks better if they give you less info so at first you think you get more than you really do.

I think it’s sad it when companies instead of being clear and upfront go all corporate on you and you think you’re talking to a bunch of lawyers. Disappointing to see Envato to take this turn…

Sizes are up to you – I always do AS4 and US Letter versions of all my documents.

Bleeds are as per commonly accepted by all printers: .25” bleeds on all print documents.

Set rulers and guides for bleeds and cropmarks.

The rest is up to you :)

If you’re new and you want to design logos just go wild and have fun. Knock out a few designs you enjoy doing – I don’t think there’s a logo category that sells more than others, but obviously corporate or creative fields have a bigger audience than niche markets

Hi Guenther,

some tips:

1) Apart from Photo Dune there are other stock photography sites which often offer bundles. You will get at least 2 promotions every year, just make sure you keep on the lookout for these. Lately I’ve seen promos for:

www.graphicstock.com www.depositphotos.com

Graphic Stock may still have an active promo where you can sign up for one week and download as much as you like for free.

In addition I used to have an account with them, and when I chose to terminate it I got a real nice offer for an entire year which I took up. So it may be worth signing up for a month, and then see if you can get a nice promo offer when you terminate your account. No guarantees on this one though :)

The latter has had several times an offer where you can buy 200 photos at any resolution for USD100. I signed up for that about 18 months ago and I still have about 50 downloads left on that promotion.

Other websites like ShutterStock have a wider variety, more choice and often also more quality photographs. However they are also considerably more expensive. I only use these if I need one specific shot and can’t find it anywhere else.

2) www.everystockphoto.com

You can search by license here. So find great quality photos with unlimited license and then look for the authors who publish them. In many cases they will have a range of quality free photos you can download and use.

I have spent a lot of time there searching, filtering authors and finding suitable images.

It is time-consuming, but you will be able to get good results for free there.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Chris
