I’m looking for a theme similar to my design. I tried converting my theme from scratch but it seems it will take a while since i have no experience or zero knowledge in PHP

Here is my design

I really like to code this from scratch instead of hacking a theme

Here is a wireframe of the theme that i would like to create.

What i want to do is the three containers below the content and beside the sidebar would be able to display a post. Title, Thumbnail, an Excerpt and a read more link. I really no nothing of PHP that is why i need your help. All is know is HTML/CSS and just starting out as a web designer.

By the way would greatly appreciate for theme designers or web designers to visit my other thread.

Basically I’m new in web designing and i have a project that requires to make a wordpress theme. Now the questions is do i have to create a theme from scratch or use the concept of parent and child theme(Using thematic framework) to provide a wordpress theme.

What is the difference between designing and creating a theme from scratch.?

Do most websites or web designers use the concept of parent-child theme and use Thematic Framework in designing their web/theme. I really like to see some examples.

When creating that also means developing and that requires learning PHP.

In short a ready made structure. I google the word framework and it also means structure or skeleton.

Thank you for answering. I have posted this question in several forums like sitepoint and also done my research so I can move on. Basically this framework is like a skeleton or structure of a web page that i can use to develop another theme much faster.

Instead of re-typing the codes i could just copy it. Correct me if i’m wrong but the frameworks are made by cutting the HTML page into several parts right.

For Example

HTML -

  • header.php
  • index.php
  • sidebar.php
  • footer.php

I have school project right now and the objectives are to create a “Home Page”, “Inner Page” and “Contact Page” and implement it to wordpress.

I have been reading the book called “Build you own wicked wordpress themes and now reached chapter 4 -Theme Frameworks. I’m still new to web designing and this chapter is a little technical for me. Is theme framework another term for ready made template? I don’t want to skim or skip this chapter just because the topic is bit technical.

Would be really thankful if someone could explain it to me in a non-technical form.
