hello and welcome!
So lets get started on your feedback….
Firstly, the first thing that I noticed is that your theme is insanely crowded there is virtually no spacing in-between elements. Secondly, your theme is off centered (weird open space on your right side) so open up your spacing between your boxes and use that space to space everything out.
You are also missing hierarchy, my eyes do not know where to look
Typography also needs a huge improvement; there appears to be more than three typefaces that you are using…
Color choices seem kind of bland and kind of everywhere. Pick your primary and secondary colors
Again check both your macro and micro spacing…its too hard and confusing on the eye
Basically this whole template needs some major reworking. You picked a hard category to submit to. PSD templates need to be pixel perfect and visually dynamic.
Your template has a grid it appears but again it is off centered and needs to be reworked. Check out information about the 960 grid system.
Take your time with this, do some research, and come back to it.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
Hello everyone! I would like any reviews on a potential theme that I am developing called “circular”. If you have the time, I would appreciate it if anyone could critique this with a fine tooth comb. I am open to suggestions
Thanks!
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B0K5OVCJtkONRFgwWGVhbXoxeU0honestly it looks kind of plain and really basic
here is an article that I think may help: http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2011/07/6-tips-to-create-better-one-page-websites/
hope this helps!
I personally think that this is a great looking theme. Plus I like how you include tons of features for the user.
However, I can kind of see how the reviewer may see this as generic. There are certain elements that are overly used. For example your header looks similar to that of the Wordpress theme called Metaverse (in terms of organization). (The logo is positioned on the left, navigation underneath with a gradient, social links, contact # on the right) In addition, your javascript hover effects are similar to that of many others on Themeforest. So maybe check out some other types of effects.
I believe there is huge potential in this. One thing I would suggest that I dont see much on here is what I like to call “breaking from the stupid rectangle” We as designers are so used to working in a little box but we never ask ourselves why we have to design that way.
My suggestion, look at websites that gets out of the box, and even breaks the grid a tiny bit. Maybe that will help.
