Most likely this is a bug in the algorithm. After reading articles on the forum shows that there are errors with payments. All this is due to the transition to the new, and hope that time will fix everything.
What bug? Three months bug? See Reference comments by May and June! These comments are the most indicative, that this is a trend.

I can confirm this: It IS a trend!

Or forget about the job and take a big gamble, that you can figure all this out and make real money here?
making real money here is very difficult here Shane, that’s why this is risky to rely on envato only … with the still growing number of authors and items and the fact that envato does n’t manage to grow proportionally , this basically has a negative impact on sales ad means that we all can expect sightly lower sales than any other thing …

I fully share this comment. This is also my opinion.

16 hours without a single sale. And only 1 sale today. Extremly low!

I don’t think that good weather or holidays are responsible for this extreme drop of sales ( for me about 30% – 50%), because in the last 3 years March and April have always been some best months. Market saturation and a lot of low quality items (GR) are more likely the reasons.
If you have a sudden drop of 30-50%, you should start looking into what you might be doing wrong. Although I agree that Envato should tighten their requirements for new items.
When envato tighten their requirements for new items, some authors will complaining about that too for sure.
“Why my theme rejected”,
“Ridiculous, our theme got rejected”

And? What’s the problem? I’ve been rejectect often at my beginning. So I had to learn to improve my skills and work over my items.

It was not sudden. It is a insidious process. 2013 was a great year. 2014 I sold less than the year before, but I had a bigger portfolio. And this year… don’t ask!

To those concerned about EU VAT and how it might have affected or will affect sales in the future – in my opinion, there’s no such problem.

Average VAT is about 21% which would account for $4.2 for a $20 plugin or $12.6 for a $60 theme. Now, that may look like quite an amount, however, this is not a significant amount having in mind that: a) EU countries are relative wealthy and $4.2-$12.6 for a good solution to a real problem is not too much b) Most of the buyers are using these items for some kind of business and $4.2-$12.6 for a good business solution is even less significant when you earn hundreds or thousands of dollars for building a site to other company or make your living from running some eCommerce site or so

I also see a slight drop in sales (10% or so) which started on the Easter weekend and continues to date. However, I would attribute this to some other factors, e.g. spring in northern countries or Northern Hemisphere, people enjoying good weather after winter months etc.
