Look. You cannot promote a videohive product (preview is a promotion) without the according license. And you cannot use celebrity faces. If you have further questions write to kingdog who already answered this question or write to support. And i will always be bored enough to report any infringements of rules.
“The only approach I see to this is trial and error: See if it passes the reviewer, then hope nobody is bored enough to report it if he actually recognizes the face.”
“Nobody can be expected to know every “famous” face, especially with “famous” not defined.”
It is very defined. And people should only use video and faces which they know and are sure is not copyrighted. If you are not sure if you can use that or another video – dont use them. Use when you know. Not knowing does not make you free of rules and laws.
Creattive you are just being a child now. The rule is clear and simple everyone knows what a celebrity means. If the person has a copyrighted face then its forbiden to use its face or lookalike in any commercial activities. You can obviously use logic and common sense – all known and seen actors like mila kunis has a copyrighted face. They live from it. Like you live from your templates which are not allowed to be copied.
I think everyone understands this rule.
And no you cannot use creative commons video in preview, because preview is commercial of your item which you sell. You need commercial license. CC license is not for any commercialy used content.
The most probable solution is to search for commercial free or commercial atributed license then accreditate the names of tge creators. Or use royalty free stock footage.
Since when are we allowed to use well known actor faces on previews ?
Yup, thats the question.
