no one is right. being right depends on the perspective and the thinking of majority. I am not majority I always wanted to do unique stuff and be myself. No one is right nor wrong here. I am helpful and kind person that is what I know. Which is also relative.

The threads point is not being right or wrong. The point is to show what happened and to expand knowledge about all kinds of customers.

I did not want to be the right one, or to be supported by authors or whatever, I opened this thread to show what happens if you talk normally and you don’t try to politely crawl by the clients feet. Also I opened it to show how 1-2 star ratings happen (oh he just couldn’t import the logo and did not try to contact me in a first place)

And the main thing what I would like to say – just don’t buy it then if you don’t know basics. I like normal people, normal clients, normal reacting and REAL communication between people and not butt licking. so NO ONE IS MY KING and CLIENT IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT. I do understand when the project is bugged I always try to fix it (that happened only once) and every week I support my clients – today I rendered out project because client could not render it because of his slow system.

The whole thing what happened in a basic logic is actually was overreacting of him wanting to be treated like a princess. He is getting a professional animation for a price of two coffee cups. I have lost this customer ? GREAT! I still have plenty of customers who are more capable of understanding creativity and the real worth of template, simple communication and real help. Help is not saying “sorry oh that is my mistake(when it is not)”, help is trying to give examples, links, and researching material which I tried to do, unfortunately it was flagged so no one can see my reply.

If you don’t have drivers license – don’t go to car’s seller asking to teach how to drive it. Thanks.

PS: my friendly support is open to anyone who knows what real support is.

How can buyer rate the item 1 star because of the support if the support is not mandatory?
Good item. Good tutorial. Good support. – 3 things that have value. May be I’m wrong. But that is how I work and want to work.

Good item – yes that’s why he bought it in a first place, it’s a professional looking animation.

Good tutorial – No, tutorial is not required and not mandatory. I always include a helpfile which says the steps how to edit the template, but i don’t get much into details and theory and learning basic stuff.

Good support – yes I answered in 1 hour and offered tutorials and also offered to cantact me via profile that he would be able to send me screenshots and detailed explanation about the problem.

WHEN YOU BUY A CAR – DOES THE CAR SELLER HAS TO LEARN YOU HOW TO DRIVE? OR YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE DRIVERS LICENSE ALREADY? :)

The car seller can explain to you certain things which are connected to that particular car… but he cannot teach you how to change the engine of the car or how to change your cars interior into leather.

I tried talking politely and friendly with him but he was angry, I can’t be bothered talking to angry clients who need basic learning about After Effects. :)

By the way… If it was me I would ask for the screenshot first of all… And if he gave me one star after that, I would say:
“I’m sorry that you have bad experience with my item. If you have other issues, please contact me through my profile page.”

And leave it. But for some reason you continued talking and began to swear. It’s not deserve your time.

this actually is very good advice. Don’t lose time arguing with this type of people. Help people who know to behave in a civilize manner. They are the only one that deserve your free support

But we need to push this to envato. They need to understand the problem.

That’s what I mean, it’s not about my talking manner and talking in a friendly unofficial way.. it’s about the rating system flaws and the understanding of need of support.

Ofcourse I am wasting my time but it is interesting – is there really the only way to deal with these king of situations? saying sorry for the stuff you did not even do ?

the attention is gives because I think it needs attention as there is holes inside the rating system. How can buyer rate the item 1 star because of the support if the support is not mandatory? I always give support to my clients, send them screenshots how to edit things and sometimes in some cases I even edit it render it out and send it to them. And this is free of charge. Rating the item 1 star because of something interpreted as bad support is against the rating system and laws of envato.

AND I DID NOT SWEAR.

I think you deserve this 1 star. It’s just misunderstanding. And it’s your task to understand clients, and give them support.



Ridiculous 1 star rating is something like this: “I can’t open your zip archive!”, “I can’t watch video tutorial!”, and etc.

well I asked if he can contact me via my profile and explain me what is the problem, also I gave some links on tutorials how to import stuff to AE and how to edit templates. He thought i am just insulting him.

Well there is alot of different people in the world some of them are easy to talk to some of them just give you 1 star without futher wanting of dealing and explaining and getting things sorted out :)

I feel perfectly fine about this issue with this buyer, I don’t feel that I am guilty in any way. He actually flagged my comment where I said that maybe the issue is lack of knowledge and I can help him sort everything out. Taking this as an insult or being optimistic and prepared to accept that we don’t know everything about everything – is a choice.

I always choose to hear criticism and to learn instead of trying to say that someone is insulting me :D thats the difference between people in the world.

This is a short tutorial how to get a 1 star rating for nothing by a angry customer who doesn’t even clearly state the problem and what he actually wants. Please do not flag it or please unflag it if it gets flagged as we authors need knowledge of similar experience with angry unsatisfied buyers. This is a perfect example how we get high number of 5 stars and 4 stars and a SINGLE 1 star rating.
