Ideally I want to recreate something like this

http://www.motors.co.uk/ http://www.motors.co.uk/search/car/smartsearch

but for woocommerce products

My thinking is that maybe this can be done using tags with images, then applying an ajax filter for selecting and producing results.

Ive looked at various options on market, a few things available that get close but all seem to miss vital elements.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or – can anyone quote this as a custom build?

Thanks :-)

AAAARRRGHGHHHGGGHGHG!!!!!

Just found even more stupid crappy bugs in this crap useless theme I have ripped off with!!! Honestly, this has to be the most polished piece of ** I’ve ever seen sold as a ‘finished’ piece of work…

Was building this for a client and due to the ridiculous lack of support and masses of bugs, its already overdue as I’ve had to make SO many changes to the code myself just to get it to work basic functions it should do out the box…

Now, I find even MORE stupid bugs in it. Can only think this is just crap coding.

This should really be removed from sale as SO many customers are complaining about it and TF is ignoring the whole issue.

May have just been the straw that broke my back… really can’t be arsed to fix yet another bug in this, then find another down the line and on and on and on…

Off to another sales market that cares for its customers, see if I can find something to replace it with.

thanks for nothing TF. I will be shopping elsewhere from now on due to your couldn’t care less attitude.

Problem here though is the whole support issue is open to so much confusion. My case – the author advertises a fully supported theme with a ticket system forum.

the forum will not allow anyone to register, and will not accept tickets. the author answers every comment with ‘submit ticket’ everyone in comments replies saying ‘it doesnt work’ nothing changes…

over 1000 sales at $45 a shot… thats a fair bit of money there. If an author does not want to provide any support, dont advertise it. Simple.

Also – TF – if a theme has consistent bugs and 9 months of pages full of comments with all buyers saying the same thing and being brushed aside, surely you should be doing something about it.

I was asked by you to submit a ticket, I did. Then heard nothing back. When I flagged this up publicly in this thread, you asked me again – to submit a ticket.

I did. and heard nothing back…

whats going on? seems like any buyers with any problems are simply being ignored for the sake of continues sales taking place…

With a quick search, I was able to find out the theme you are talking about. From the comments section in that theme I could see that the author is replying to all of the comments regularly, and he replied to you also about Twitter API update.

not sure if you’re replying to me or someone else. If its, me, then the theme I am talking about—yes, eventually the author does respond to the comments section. 99% of replies however simply say – send a support ticket -

the support ticket forum is of course advertised as a fully supported way to get support on their sales page.

If you then look back over 9 months of comments, people are all saying – cannot send a ticket, the support forum will not accept anything!

The author then usually replies with the same reply to say – it does work! We deal with over 100 tickets every day on our support forum!!!

I know this is rubbish. 100 tickets a day… hmmmm I have tried over and over again to use their support forum, it will not allow anyone to submit anything, there is no link to register, just 1 – submit a ticket, 2 – submit as a guest.

1 – will not accept any info you put in, it just returns errors. 2 – will redirect you to being asked for an existing support ticket number.

Seems a convenient way to block people from actually submitting any tickets! catch 22 – people then post issues in comments, and get asked to submit a ticket – making it look like full support is being provided… sales keep rolling in.

There are endless comments about bugs, the author does reply on the comments but not with any solution. Just always says either submit ticket, or says its being fixed. There is a standard ‘its being fixed’ massage right at the top of sales pitch saying new release in next 2-3 days… this has always been there and is part of their default sales pitch to make it look updated. It’s not been updated, and the bugs are the same since 9 months back on the comments pages..

HOWEVER… I am not using this forum to call out anyone. I am asking that TF provide buyers a place TO HELP EACH OTHER in cases where authors do not offer help as they are not obliged to!

PLEASE keep this the focus!

The problem with my case is that the dev for the template I purchased is simply not supporting the theme even though it’s advertised as having full support!
You had a bad experience, get over it now. Next time when you plan to buy a theme, just look at the theme comments section and also look at theme last update date.

Thanks for that. Really helpful post there :-)

The theme I purchased does have a long list of complaints in the comments. Right at the top of the themes ‘sales speil’ it says all the bugs in the comments that are listed are currently being updated in a major update that should be released in the next couple of days. Just to give buyers confidence that it is in fact – updated…

this but of text has been there as long as I can remember!!!

I was looking to help others and would find it beneficial for buyers and sellers to have a more open forum for helping each other.

Still, your suggestions has been noted… and I ‘got over it’ a while ago. Will sleep peacefully now thanks :-) ...

No one mentioned a forum where only buyers can post, not authors.

The problem with my case is that the dev for the template I purchased is simply not supporting the theme even though it’s advertised as having full support!

I have no option than to post elsewhere, only Im not allowed to even post the name of the theme in this forum so leaves me nowhere.

I do agree buyer should have their right to voice their problems and seek help but I guess that is what microlancer etc is for.

The biggest issue with buyer led support is that (not every buyer but some) are not as experienced as they may believe or may have a solution that has knock on impact within a theme. Should this turn out to be the case and something go wrong then the author cannot be expected to fix it and who regulates that situation? It would be beyond the control of envato and could potentially turn nasty for both buyer and for the author alike.

As for biased forums or a ‘safe’ place for buyers to voice their problems – The current forum is the only fair solution. It is unrealistic to suggest that a forum exists where only one side can discuss matters without the other side being able to defend themselves. I appreciate there are generally more authors here than buyers but that is through choice, noone is stopping buyers coming here, and MODs do not unfairly lock up threads – there has to be a reason for it and if you disagree email support or query it.

I am not taking sides or stereotyping anyone I am merely putting an opinion forward based on the original topic, and am interested to hear if you have a solution to the points I raised.

Polite request that this thread be focused on its original post – to allow a place in forums where customers can help each other work with themes, plugins etc…

this would however mean that themes and other purchases will need to be named. It’s not a negative thing, it can be a positive.

I belong to another CMS forum using another CMS altogether and the support network is excellent from the community forums. In fact, it’s normally the place buyers go first instead of direct to the devs. If the community cant help out, the dev normally gets alerted to the forum post and normally provides a solution.

It means, the devs have less work pressure and can focus more time on actually developing (which pays their bills!) – while the buyers get the benefit of an open and helpful community.

The odd post gets through that is disrespectful, it soon gets flagged up and moderated. 99% of the time though, buyers understand that good forum manners go a long way, and are very respectful to everyone and to the devs.

In the rare occasion when a dev really is being ‘bad’ then it comes to light and the issue is dealt with. Mostly though, it allows a healthy environment to be created.

I suggest this approach here, as the current system does not appear to be working in a balanced way. Based on the current, it seems and a number of others also almost get ‘silenced’ if we voice that there is a problem.

Hopefully this gets read by the right people, please communicate to us TF what is happening, it would go a long way :-)

Thanks

Thanks will try to find that. I only noticed it show when I configured the plugin incorrectly while testing it, then it ‘hung’ as it could not get the right data to complete the plugin request. When its configured correctly it refreshes so quick you cant tell… wont be easy to find this if it refreshes so quick! Unless I can find that code in somewhere else on my site!

Thanks

Recently purchased a plugin for WP via CC and as soon as it was activated I noticed my site start hanging a little when refreshing pages where the plugin was placing its code. Then I notice my browser saying it is waiting on www.scorecardresearch.com while the page is refreshing…

Looking this site up, they collect browsing data using tags placed in websites… Only ever got this after installing a plugin.

Cant find anything in the plugin files that says scorecardresearch what would I be looking for to find this code if it is encrypted?

Dont like the idea (if it is this plugin) of this sort of code getting into my site without my permission!
