if they paste their text into a textarea, you can use text/word/letter counter scripts easily

Hi there!

I guess that is a good alternative, although it will be less fancy this way.

Since I am not a scripter at all, I must be asking strange questions. But is there a script that would take the wordcount and turn it into a calculation? Or possibly something that I could take a look at?

I am using formidable pro.

Hi all,

I don’t know if this is a question I can ask here.

I would like to give visitors to my (freelance writer) website the opportunity to upload their word or other text file types onto my site through a contact form.

This should not be to hard, any number of wordpress plugin forms have upload posibilities.

But what I want is to show an automatic quote based on the number of words inside those text files.

So, when someone has a document with 1000 words, he will get a quote for, let us say 1000 times 0,01 = 10.

I have no idea if this is possible…

Thank you for your advice!

Hi, and thank you for your comments. I’ll take a look at your themes right away! Work can wait (a little while longer ;-)).

The Old Car theme was my favorite so far, followed by Thau Theme. The bwdesk magazine seemed a bit too crowded for me. I’m not looking for a real magazine just yet, at first I will probably not have that many articles to go on as well. More like a place where people can just browse freely, looking for an interesting, inspirational, comforting article!

EDIT: I’ll be adding your Bou theme to my temporary shortlist :-)

Hi all,

I am looking to set up a wordpress website, that features nothing but personal stories from lots of authors about one and the same subject. Let’s just say the subject is kittens, and a lot of people are going to write about their experience and life with kittens :-)

I have been looking for the perfect wordpress theme to do so. Mainly news and magazine themes so far, but am hoping to get some good suggestions :-)

Here are some of my possibilities so far, what do you think and what would you suggest? New alternatives are very welcome!

Hi,

You can check this theme http://spyropress.com/attraction-service/blog

I recently bought it and find it a great deal, they have drag n drop page building tool with column layout. So you cab yourself as beginner can do easily what you want your page to look.

You can talk to the owner here yawargenii@gmail.com

Thanks

Thanks for the advice. The blogpage looks fresh, but can you make a ‘custom’ homepage with bloglist and big box for a promotional message pretty easy?

Hi there, I am looking for a very easily customisable theme, that resembles this site: www . schrijven voor internet . nl (without the white space)

Homepage: header with logo and horizontal menu, then a full width large box and then a sidebar with a blog. Seperate pages should have the same layout.

If I understand it correctly, this shouldn’t be too hard to do with wordpress, but I simply don’t know how, and am looking for an easy customisable theme that very much resembles my example. I have found two examples which I think should be ok to work with, since they offer lots of extra’s, if I wanted to add a page with no sidebar, or with a sidebar left or right etc.

- http://diythemes.com/ I cannot see if this really does the trick, this looks like it and should be a ‘skin’ http://socialtriggers.com/

- http://wp-brilliance.solostreamsites.com/ I really like the style of this theme, if I can also add a top-box easily, it should work?

What would you advise me, being a beginner? Do you know of a great ready to go theme?

No problem, and thank you for your help :-)

I think I found a different way of getting it done, puzzling a bit with other bits and pieces I found round the net. Although I do not really understand what I did and how I did it :-)

<?php if ( is_page() ) { ?>
<ul><?php
  if($post->post_parent){
    $parent=get_post($post->post_parent);
    $children = '<li><a href="'.get_permalink($post->post_parent).'">'.$parent->post_title.'</a></li>';
    $children .= wp_list_pages("title_li=&child_of=".$post->post_parent."&echo=0");
  }else{
    $children = '<li><a href="'.get_permalink($post).'">'.$post->post_title.'</a></li>';
    $children .= wp_list_pages("title_li=&child_of=".$post->ID."&echo=0");
  }
echo $children; ?>
</ul>
<?php } ?>

It seems better, because it is shorter. I tried this one before, but the problem was that on the sidebar of my homepage, it displayed a blogpost. But by adding that first line of code, I seem to have limited it to pages!
