Rejecting items based on “we have already couple of items like yours” is wrong and against competition between authors. I’m not speaking about items that are plain copy of other existing items that should get rejected always, but only the specific case of items that have an idea that sale. If one want to create an item on the same idea and concept of a top item, it should be free to do it. This brings more value and choice to the buyer and will bring more people with money to the marketplace.
Asking authors to create “something different”, meaning “based on another idea” is a little evil. For example, if the market request some “bunny with flowers”, and sales of “bunny with flowers” are high, then one should be free to create “bunny with flowers” and not advised to create “dogs with flowers” because “we already have couple of items like that”. If “dogs with flowers” do not sale is masochistic and stupid to invest time creating it. Off course “dogs with flowers” may become the next top item, so one needs to explore new ideas, but till then, one should be free to create whatever it wants, only barrier should be the quality of his creation.
Is just a simple example using an imaginary situation but this apply to any top item out there.
This is just my opinion, I may be wrong, if you have some counter arguments just go ahead I will be happy to hear it.
that’s an awesome badge congratulation!
how soon you need this? and what’s the reward ?
just buy one of the swf encryption software on the market
Honestly I didn’t notice any change at all. It was more an habit to click there than in the dropdown menu, the link is still there and reachable. I’d just remove those text links and put nicer buttons… even better some buttons with main categories like templates, galleries, components which are also important keywords for our marketplace. Unity and Flex can be relegated where they belong: at the end.
no, unity should be first then (hopefully in the future) silverlight files, and after that, the out of fashion flash files.
