“We’ve got about one million plus feature requests at the moment, but myself and the community team will keep an eye on this thread and take down any new notes or suggestions that arise”
The problem with this broad statement from envato is, despite there being ‘one million plus feature requests’, I haven’t seen anything significant change on themeforest for literally years. There are so many small issues that are really important to the regular authors/buyers, but none of them ever seem to be acted upon.
The rating system is very weak, the site search function is utterly useless, the quality standards are not being tightened up, etc.
Saying these things are in the pipeline simply doesn’t wash after the first year or two…
As a buyer of ‘1-9’ items you need to wind it in. I’m a buyer and I’m fully behind the price increase. I see the quality of themes improving as a result of potentially higher profits for the authors (more/better authors will join the community).
I’d be very surprised if a theme jumped $30 due to the price changes, as the intention was to increase by $5-10 for the most part. If indeed what you’re saying is true, I expect either a) the theme had a ton of features added to it or b) the theme was accidentally underpriced beforehand.
Also, who cares if authors re-purpose some of their framework(s)? It’s their initial hard work paying off – that’s how many businesses work.
As someone who has spent approx. $2,000 here, I think it’s a scandal that some buyers are whinging about the price increase. Paying around £30 for an entire site, coded brilliantly and supported well, is just unimaginably good. I don’t buy themes because I haven’t got the ability to design and code them myself, I buy them because they literally save me 100’s of hours. The value on that can’t easily be measured.
Anyone moaning about an extra $10 needs to get a f*cking grip.
Nice fail on the use of the word grind, you can’t have ‘grinded’ templates, you can have ‘ground’ templates. Your URL and name doesn’t make any sense.
Maybe I’m being an idiot, but the search function on this network of site’s is AWFUL !
There used to be an option of searching based on theme name, author, etc. Now I can’t search for anything other than a pre-known theme name.
Example, I want to have a quick look at Orman Clark’s themes. So unless I know the name of the theme I want to search for, I have to find the ‘top authors’ area and look for him manually?
And what would I do if the author I was searching for wasn’t a top author?
It can’t be hard to implement something more effective; this has irritated me on many occasions…
Interesting and honest post. I’m also a very regular buyer here and I find the theme quality is generally excellent. However, there are a few stinkers out there.
It’ll be really interesting to see the feedback from up top here.
Edit: My biggest issue here is actually the number of really dull/repetitive themes that are getting released on here. I’d rather see less and of a much higher quality. Hopefully this would iron out your issue too.
