I think this is the biggest fail from Envato. Authors who take their items offline have to give the buyer a refund, or something like a ‘buy-out’ for each person who bought the item.
What about the firms that go to bankruptcy, do you think they still provide support for item that they have been selling? I think not. This is why when you purchase the item you need to download it, at least I do this every time. I also bought items that was removed from TF, but I downloaded it when I purchased it, so there is no need to be online forever. This is not dropbox, this is market!
@Cubell: +1, that would be a good solution yes.
I don’t think this is the correct angle to look at it. If comparing to store selling jeans, let’s say you buy some model of jeans and then the store stops selling it a few months later. If you lose that pair of jeans (or delete the Theme for Envato example), you can’t get it again. Once you buy some file here, you should download it right away and then keep it in a safe place .
Edited: Creattive was faster with explanation .
What if an author decides to move business elsewhere?
I think we are really close to something that both sides can agree Just think about updates (6 months…..)
What is with this API lately. Every few days API don’t work. Can you fix this. This issue was is opened every week, and it’s very important to us author that this works.
As far I can see I have received commission!
If they wish to have this model, then you will create invoice for Envato every month and you will charge your profit (70%) + VAT since we have no idea to who we sell our product and we didn’t get any money to our account when product is sold we are selling to Envato.
