So we make a mini jump, from Code-canyon to theme-forest, to test the waters. Item rejected..are we surprised? Not in the least really. Just like Code-canyon, it seems theme-forest is subject to the same popularity contest that overruns the whole of Envato market. Its no longer what you make, its who you know, or how active you are in the forum.

Note to anyone thinking of releasing something in any market, make sure you make 12,000 posts and replies to get your name known first, or else your wasting time.

Also, without a doubt, 200 replies will be made of people coming to defend the honor of Envato, and that’s cool, because that’s how THEY get items approved. Us? We will always speak the truth. Changes to reviewers must be made!

I guess id like to add to this conversation, and ask a questions. Why are templates always more than scripts? I could make a template in a day, while a script takes much longer? Am i the only one who has always thought this makes no sense? Not to mention a template that someone buys can only make them so much, but a script that’s deployed good for whatever reason will make much more..so shouldn’t it BE more?
I’m sorry but (even if I’ll a bit out off topic saying that) but I am 100% sure that a theme cannot be developed in 1 day :)

You DO understand that almost all theme forest templates are now made with bootstrap? That means they start FROM a core that already works…

The most difficult part is getting it approved..had to add that

But seriously the most difficult part is knowing no matter how hard you look for bugs, a client is running a completely different system than you AND they have no access to php.ini or htaccess :p

I doubt they read it honestly, they cant even read an item description and review it properly..you honestly think they read something that’s extra work?

You could pretty much do away with the rating system as a whole, because most buyers..i think.. read all the comments OR the most recent comments when deciding to buy the script. So between a demo or a video and the comments, most decisions are made? Not sure, just 2 cents.

Yes testing from the client side..not having people write our code for us… I would be happy to also client side test other peoples scripts as well.

In an effort to release more refined scripts on code canyon, the first time, would it be possible to set up a bug testing group? Obviously to avoid senseless self promotion authors would need to be verified etc.

When we release a script, we go through it and test for bugs, but no sooner do we put it live that 2-3 bugs are found. As we all know everyone uses whatever we make different, from different computers and different browsers. I am willing to bug test some scripts in order to get mine bug tested as well. Maybe each author could have a page where you could submit bug reports alone per script?

Any one have any thoughts on this subject?

Don’t get discouraged. 1st – I recommend you to integrate bootstrap design into your script (it will look much better than plain html), 2nd – find some new ideas to add in your script, as the reviewer said, the concept is nice, but there is a lack of functionalities. Good luck with it!

I think I need to make my library more commercial, but I’m not that good at marketing stuff, that’s why I’ve made here an account. But because this is my first application(posted here) I will make some improvments and use a bootstrap design and resubmit, but from my opinion my library it does what it says it does, nothing more nothing less, it doesn’t look to commercial because is a php library, I hate design.. :D

Thank you for your response!

Design is the reason people buy though, if the demo looks like crap, theyll assume the script is as well. Just do whatever the reviewer said and the next time youll know what to do.
