I can tell you that this is f’ed, no question about it.

Paypal is notorious for being unreliable, unpredictable, and having poor support. It’s easy to set up a real payment gateway to a real bank. There is no excuse not to do it.

I spent hours on trying to get them my money. Used mobile site, different networks, e-mailed Paypal (to no avail of course), sent a ticket to Themeforest (no response, of course), sent a tweet to the developer (who can’t deal with me directly, unfortunately).

And you probably know, for every one person complaining, there are 50+ who just give up, never say a word.

100% agreed. Paypal is terrible (case in point, I’m trying to buy themes and can not, due to some unspecified Paypal error).

It makes no sense to remove reasonable choice for consumers when it comes to ways to part them with their money. I want to make a bog-standard credit card payment, it would take nothing to have a proper payment gateway to a proper bank.

I wouldn’t even bother except that there is a theme I really want to buy. Otherwise, I’d have clicked off your site as soon as I saw Paypal as the only payment gateway choice.

How many people do you think, have this problem and just don’t bother to mention it? I do, for one.
