Thanks for the comments, everyone. I think that changing the navigation is a must. In the beginning I wasn’t sure if I should use an image based nav for this very reason. I guess I learned my lesson.
Here’s the link to the help file. Since I know how to use everything, I’m not sure what I should change. http://themeforest.humanboy.com/wp-content/themes/AnotherPortfolio/AnotherPortfolio%20Users%20Guide.txt
Any suggestions on that are welcome.
Thanks for the nice words about my theme. I never thought it would be this hard to get anything accepted here.
That’s a good idea about the two options. I’ll at least be changing the navigation to be plain text instead of images. Maybe I’ll go through and comment out some more code and add more to the help file.
Hey guys,
Yet another rejected item here. You can view the live preview here: http://themeforest.humanboy.com
Here’s the rejection letter:This File Did Not Meet Our CriteriaThank you for taking the time to submit your work. Unfortunately this item doesn’t meet the high approval standards we have for the ThemeForest.
Visual / Aesthetic Quality
This item is not what we’re looking for the site in terms of aesthetic. This item still need more practice to get approved in ThemeForest.
This item have some potential based on the functions, however, it required a lot of works to improve its aesthetic quality.
Technical & Help File ============= 1. The help file doesn’t helpful enough. 2. The fixed menu image isn’t flexible to the users.
Can anyone recommend anything to make this get through? I plan on beefing up the help file. But is there anything design wise you’d suggest?
I’ve found that you need to include that coding in each page you want to load values into.
For example, paste it into the top of index.php (after <?php get_header() ;?>) if you want to load thumbnails into your blog.
Yeah, I was thinking I should not go with my first choice. ...Man I’m no good with colors…
I think if you follow what Segen has mocked up then you’ll be golden.
I’m debating on whether or not this might be ready to upload.
I took some advice from my thread yesterday and used some better colors thanks to kuler. I also made the nav bar a little bit smaller.
Here’s what it looked like yesterday: http://themeforest.humanboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/anotherportfolio_home.jpg
Here’s the new one that I like the most (blue and orange): http://themeforest.humanboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/anotherportfolioblueorange.jpg
Here’s my second favorite (silver): http://themeforest.humanboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/anotherportfoliosilver.jpg
Here’s my third favorite (green and brown): http://themeforest.humanboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/anotherportfoliogreenbrown.jpg
and Here’s my least favorite (dark): http://themeforest.humanboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/anotherportfoliodark.jpg
What do you think? Are they ready? Should I just try to upload a four color PSD ? Does it need more work?
I’m also in the process of making it a wordpress theme.
It’s got cool effects and all but it seems a little unorganized. I think if you line up the boxes a little bit more to a grid you’d have a better shot.
You might consider adding some static text in there too. Maybe a little info on what you can do with the boxes or something?
I think that there might be a little bit too much white space. It feels a little bit blank and lacking personality.
I don’t really like how the logo is indented. It should line up with the rest of the left hand side.
I also agree about the typography. Mess with letter spacing and line height a little bit.
Thanks guys. I’ve been told before that my colors on other designs weren’t that great, so I guess they weren’t wrong. ...I just thought they looked good.
I’m not giving up. I’ll be giving kuler a shot and hopefully you’ll see plenty of me in the not so distant future.
