No, I meant in terms of learning time. Because blender packs EVERYTHING into their software it is the most difficult to learn.

I don’t really wanna get into a “what’s the most badass-software” discussion, but you got that wrong. Blender is, trust me, by far, really, by very far, so much easier to learn than Maya and/or Houdini.

It obviously depends on yourself, your logic towards 3D software, towards a program’s UI and such. But overall, Blender is much easier to learn and to use, because it also happens to have much less features.

Don’t worry Crozer, I like your opinions…You are probably right because of blender’s new UI and the addition of bmesh is certainly a game changer in terms of modelling…. I guess I was comparing it with the older UI.

But once you get the hang of all things 3D the learning experience is usually more or less the same, for most packages.

Of course, the pro packages will be packed with useful shortcuts and what not.

That being said once you learn blender completely you can do literally anything maya or 3dsmax can do.

It’s hard to compare so I’ll won’t because I’ve only ever used maya a handful of times and this was a while back.

HI, to start wp theme, you should lear ans learn and always learn so each day there’s some thing new that i descover so go a head and start by learning HTML , CSS and PHP .

I use Aptana Studio 3 as editor and i’m ok so the real need is advanced script and framework this is my collection :

- skeleton framework (it save my life eatch time i need to do something) try it try it and undrestand it (some others uses 960 grid or other ones it’s a choise).

- sy4mil-Options-Framework : you need to have solid knowledge in wordpress to strat with this stuff.

- JQuery plugins: like flex slider, nivo slider, cycle, super fish…..

- bear bear bear ;) haha i mean time to learn ;)

Good luck

^^ Really good advice there.

Also I would like to mention the bluefish ide. Which was originally intended for linux but also works on windowsxp. Since discovering that I dropped apanta like a rock. Bluefish is so much lighter on resources and has some pretty useful features to boot.

Blender cookie is a site for blender tutorials.

In my opinion blender today as it stands easily rivals 3dsmax and maya put together.

That being said blender probably has one of the steepest learning curves to date, although it’s new interface is much more user friendly.

Be prepared to spend a lot of time getting to grips with this though.

I’m taking maybe even half a year – year to learn it properly.

Modelling is great with blender, now that bmesh is included in the latest build. Rendering is great in blender, now that cycles is introduced. Sculpting is great in blender.

If you need any help I’d be glad to help.
Ok, I like blender and excited to learn it, but i want to know for complete animation in blender i have to do some script/coding in python. Means i also have to learn python scripting to make complete superb animation.

To be honest, you don’t have to know anything really to do with python and scripting when it comes to animation.

For animation you have a lot of pre made scripts at your disposal, such as rigid bodies, soft bodies, particle systems.

For animations of models, you have to rig the model and then move the bones to create the animation.

But this is way way… into the future. Trust me just creating a simple model and rendering it will take you a lot of time.

Why Because of my slow P.C, i have core i3 + 4GB ram using blender its running fine.

4GB of ram is more than enough. ATM I ’m running blender on 2gb and it seems ok. The latest version seems really quick and seems more optimized to run on linux, at least from my point of view.

Also when you get around to rendering, check to see if your graphics cards enables GPU rendering on cycles. It’s a lot quicker. Most Nvidia cards should be supported.

Yeah I guess that seems the easiest way, just wanted to avoid a hefty download of virtual box… But will try at some other point.
