I like the design.
My critique is from a technical point though, is there a reason you have to load 1920px wide featured images in your posts? Why not crop/scale that?In general, good work, I like the design, seems pleasant to read from.
I redid the sidebar and did some other misc. fixes. http://demo.johneyboy.com/survival_blog_wordpress/
drsankarl saidWill work on those. Thank you very much!
personally I dont like the color ecf0f1, I would use f0f0f0
the search button looks more like an input box than a button
the margin-bottom of widget title could be increased from 12px to 20 or 25px
the widget title itself looks a little to right, maybe bcos of the font size, could add margin-left of -4px or so
some hierarchy issues
footer can use some demo widgets
comments need work
I’ve done some polishing. Do you think it is ready yet?

You know, to my eye, without rounded borders it looked better, more elegant. And yes, now spacings between sidebar and main block + spacings between posts became wider what spoiled the accuracy and proportionality you had in your first, so accurate version.
In Categories widget a grey bottom line (border) sits too close to text–wider spacings would look better. Recent Posts widget is good now but you lost consistency of spacings of all the widgets–compare both Categories and Recent Posts, you will notice the difference.I would also remove grey border on sticky post, it dominates too much, try some any other idea to distinguish sticky from regular posts.

No worries. Maybe make the content a touch wider, needs to be a little closer to the sidebar.
Maybe add some text shadow to the text over the header image for better readability.
Work on all the type, slightly smaller headings, bolder body text.Polish the finer details and go over everything.
Fixed up the sidebar. Thanks for the suggestion iKreativ! Looks a lot better.
