Hate to say it, but IE6 is still pretty important… even if ThemeForest officially drops it, I would imagine that there’s still a relatively high percentage of buyers who it is important to (which just means that they’ll complain over email). I’m personally still planning on supporting it as much as is “reasonably possible”
I plan on doing the same until the figure really drops a little more than it currently is – would rather take the little extra time to get everything working rather than receiving comments / emails about it not working.
you can’t just expect flash to know what page you are on – it doesn’t work that way – there is a VERY easy way to do this – now you have the homepage flash header – duplicate the file – change the location of the selected menu item, remove the audio bit – repeat for all pages so that you have a different flash header for each page – that’s the easiest way – the other “proper” way is to set the menu up with variables that you pass into the actionscript -
Congrats Sir – well deserved!
I guess that I am not getting my point across here at all.
I disagree – someone may already have a very acceptable site that is live – no issues and do not want to change it – but want to create a mobile version of their site (colors are all that are needed at a basic level to “match” your current site.)
Therefore there is a HUGE market for just mobile templates for sure.
Also you need to make sure that if you are stating “mobile version included” wether it is specific for mobile or next gen like Android or iPhone – these are VERY different
Hey @xmdsys – your point is my point exactly – I have been working on the dark version of my light version (don’t understand what the difference in naming convention brings to the table though – all my themes have a naming convention I would like to follow) – but yes, your point of changing graphics etc is another template is my argument – but looking at the example at the beginning of this thread – they are different graphics? Different photos, thumbs, colors, background – in that case it was rejected – but yet that in my head results in a new template?
Maybe I do not quite follow your post, or indeed this entire thread
I thought the original author of this thread says he tried to upload his new template with different graphics / colors and images and was rejected because it was the same – yet I see the same layout – but different template surely?
My dark template would be a new upload and new product – but it uses the same structure / layout – just has different logo / slider / images / colors etc – in ref to this thread we are told that this is not a different template – I am very confused.
You mentioned that “many” authors have uploaded light and dark versions of their themes. I’m only aware of one or two. Did I miss some? If so, let me know and I’ll look into the situation.
I said many as not to single out anyone – it’s against your forum rules.
This is not a color scheme thing – I am talking about a completely different market for the template – as per the examples at the beginning of this post – different colors is another thing.
On the subject a template uploaded this past week looks VERY similar to my template in structure – even the comments and css classes appear to be mine – so in essence someone else could buy a template, change the graphics and colors and upload as their own and get it accepted. Of course I have zero proof of this because not everything is the same, but it sure seems like someone used my template as a basis for their own. I am not prepared to single out this design, or indeed send in a report as of course it’s impossible to confirm a copy just from the way a css and html are commented out and css style names.
Anyways, like I said this is NOT a color scheme thing – in fact I almost ALWAYS offer several colors with my templates – my dark version I wanted to upload has MANY options for colors – this is the fact that I am unsure how you can realistically police this issue and I would really like a more detailed explanation as you said that just changing graphics / color schemes and css is not enough – but yet that in essence is a completely different template – in fact if it wasn’t then everyones template and indeed website that uses a slider at the top – menu at the top and 2 column underneath would apparently be just a color change. Even using a set of predefined grid css system would mean that they are also identical?
I am not trying to cause trouble, or an argument here, I’m trying to understand how you can say that changing graphics. css and colors is not a new template – if that is the case then we would only have about 6 templates on here and every other would just be a copy with different colors that is not allowed.
Looking forward to your response.
this is a complete fail – I uploaded my last item Modern Business 3 (Light) and have been working on a DARK version – just as many authors have done recently – if it is not accepted as a new template then I will not be happy having spent the time I have on it.
There are no official rules so authors can only go off what has already been allowed – this is what I based my DARK version on – in fairness I have altered the CSS , graphics, slider, front page etc – but if it is rejected I do not think all the others that have done the same should be allowed to be kept on the market place.
I guess my reviewer will inform me once I upload – and yes my dark version is also based towards a completely different market with different tags etc than my original.
Yeah well you nerds are amateurs – I just got me hooked up with an awesome server – hosting company based in Geneva – I went for the Large Hadron Collider plan (LHC) – heres a pic

follow authors RSS feed for instant up to date listings – or most here have twitter accounts you can follow.
But I second the idea of being able to “follow” authors and then authors have the ability internally from TF to send out announcements – however I do not think that bit would ever happen as some people would abuse it.
The follow thing has been mentioned several times I believe in the forums.
